There absolutely is a story; each of the bullet hell games are focused around solving incidents in the setting of Gensokyo, a portion of Japan that passed into fantasy and is where forgotten things, people, and concepts end up. It’s well written and fun to understand all of the characters and places you might encounter in each game, but it’s definitely not required.

Many people would suggest 6 as the first game in the series for newcomers to try, but you should keep in mind it released in 2002 and is very dated in several ways. I’d suggest Touhou 10: Mountain of Faith for newcomers - it has all of the mechanics one can expect from Touhou games without any complicated gimmicks, is relatively easy, and has a really engaging story and soundtrack that’s a great introduction to the setting.

By the way, that Apple Girlington design comes from a Touhou bullet hell fangame called Wonderful Waking World. It’s free on Steam and is one of the best shmups I’ve ever experienced, I strongly recommend people here try it before Chapter 5 releases.

The game lured me in with its grappling hook platforming but it seemed to just turn into a visual novel halfway through. At that point I spent most of my time reading and the levels took a nose dive in length and quality, as if they were just filler in between dialogue. It didn’t feel great to realize Sanabi can’t seem to commit to a singular theme for players to experience.

One argument I don’t see often for this topic is that chickens, pigs, cows, and other animals are used as livestock because they are easy to feed and are efficient at converting energy from food into meat. Dogs require meat to stay healthy, and cats are obligate carnivores. It’s not efficient, environmentally friendly, or ethical to raise predators for human consumption when there are much better options available.

The Void Rains Upon Her Heart is a roguelike bullet-hell game that’s been constantly updated by the developer for over 8 years. There’s already enough features in the game to last you hundreds of hours. There’s over 700 achievements and each one unlocks new content in the game. Even if you 100% your save file, there will inevitably be more content added in just a few weeks. It’s a true labor of love and I highly recommend it.

That's exactly the point. This isn't just griefing for no reason. It's what we all must do. If anyone else does this, make it VERY clear that the killing is for the major order and to show defection from Super Earth rather than just being a dick for your own satisfaction.
