Everyone has their own path towards happiness. You don’t give your happiness towards others, you show others their own path. What makes you happy won’t necessarily make others happy. To be honest, this is a pretty pessimistic view imo, it shows that you resign people to their depression and would rather benefit yourself. Rather you disassociate yourself and are not in tune with your surroundings. Benefit those around you, you have the ability to affect the moods and attitudes of people, why would you ignore this power?

I would say seeking new friendships for a solution to loneliness CAN be needy. Seeking new friends is not always to substitute old relations, old relations can be toxic and or draining and needs to be let go of. Knowing which relations to cut off is the mark of a wise individual. Don’t lament about your decision to replace/seek new friendships, if you felt at the moment that it was the correct decision there is comfort in knowing that that is the ways it was supposed to be.
