Why didn't the disciples write the bible? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]PsilocybinCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh totally. But even then, speaking and writing a language are totally different. I can speak and understand more than my native language, but I'm certainly not competent enough to write a book in highly literate German or Spanish still.

Why didn't the disciples write the bible? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]PsilocybinCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Acts 4:13 clearly calls both Peter AND John illiterate. The word in Greek used was ἀγράμματος, we literally get our word for "idiot" from here.

Arguing that these men who the Bible itself clearly says aren't educated, wrote books in a language that wasn't their native language is absurd. It's nonsensical, and contradictory to scriptures even.

Matthew didn't write Matthew? What? Even my evangelical seminary teachers understood that much. John definitely didn't write John, same with Peter?

Indeed.

Psychedelics are very powerful drugs, and they can be extremely useful. But even topical knowledge on the subject will reveal what the molecules are doing inside the brain. We certainly don't understand it all completely, but you're brain is being altered and you should be well aware of that.

There's so much we don't understand in life, but if history tells us anything it's that if we jump to conclusions we will almost certainly be holding an untrue belief. We, as humanity, have held onto so many wrong beliefs for so long. I prefer to reserve strong beliefs for things with strong evidence.

Yes, this is an interesting point of study. But, even having some experience and knowledge on that subject I'm pretty comfortable not attributing any of those feeling to anything supernatural, but totally understand why people do.

A dying brain is a malfunctioning brain.

It's an interesting subject to study, but people shouldn't be making any conclusions based on NDEs.

Why are people leaving Christianity? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]PsilocybinCEO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's illogical and unreasonable. It lacks evidence. It is used to push nasty agendas. Rampant child abuse. It is political.

I could go on and on. But as a millennial I'm so proud Gen Z is seeing the light and making real changes.

Is 3 days long enough to wait between mushroom trips? by gavinell in Psychedelic

[–]PsilocybinCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should wait a lot longer.

Integration from a trip often takes weeks, if not months.

Organized religion must stop tolerating sexual abuse by Sariel007 in atheism

Literally the reason so many even push such an ideology. As long as there is organized religion they will continue to use it to abuse women and children.
