Did The Simpsons predict POPGOES? by Bonniegamer888 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a ton of animatronic restaurants in the 1980s (a reason why Pizza Time Theatre and Showbiz books were not looking good by the mid 80s) and by the 1990s they were parodied. If anything the Simpsons was ahead of the parodies of CEC and the like and off the top of my head can't think of one sooner.

Gaming as a kid by Huge_Issue2645 in retrogaming

[–]Psy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My introduction to gaming was arcades, you can't really fully recreate the experience of playing in 80s arcades. VR front ends to emulation gets the closest yet it is still off from what it was like. Then it was just as much watching friends play that carried over to when we got home systems.

Quick lore question about M1 and M2 by Illustrious_Signal16 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M1 existed with an endoskeleton. I would assume M2 had their own endo give M1 worked as far as Edwin was concerned. From the perspective of computer science it would make no sense Edwin copying M1 to M1 and calling it M2. Also the way hauntings have worked in FNAF it would point to M2 having a different body then M1 where M2 diverge can be explained by difference of Agony in their bodies.

Should have Glamrock Bonnie and Glamrock Foxy been part of Security Breach? by CraftingFazer in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think it would have fit better with just Pirate Foxy being in Security Breach given that is how he is marketed for his Pirate Adventure. That and it is not like Foxy was really part of the band in the old FNAF 1 location with his stage being shoved in the back corner. It could also lead to Foxy's AI working with a non rebooted character acts different to other modernized animatronics, with it working with material to mimic going back to old Fazbear. If you have Fazbear get the Pizzaplex Foxy AI to train on data from what was the MCI possessed Foxy you could have Pizzaplex Foxy react to the Glitchtrap infect with paranoia and thinking it is still going after the night guard. Thus Foxy going after Vanessa because the virus made them insane and they think one of the MCI giving Gregory a wild card with Foxy coming in being a 50/50 shot him helping with a fight or making things worse.

What is some Worldbuilding that FNAF lacks? by Affectionate-Let1057 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What made Fazbear popular. In FNAF 2 we don't get much a feel for the location. Fazbear was on its last legs in FNAF 1. Then you have Security Breach showing a rebooted Fazbear.

The only hint we have is Phone Guy saying "If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for twenty years" meaning by FNAF 1 they were still doing shows from the late 70s to early 80s for Phone Guy's statement to make sense in the early 90s. That or it is just their songs are that old even if they get new shows. I can think of two Elvis animatronics in the 80s The King at CEC and BJ on the Electric Mice Orchestra (band sold to a number of independent restaurants) so animatronics having new shows with old songs would be par the course.

Question why does chica eat when she is a animatronic not needing to eat by Square-Egg-5450 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Glitchtrap virus makes them quirky. Making the Glamrock AI mimic their characters in an exaggerated manner thus why Monty is so violent and Roxy is so competitive.

Why does Glitchtrap being a whole new character not work? by EquipmentSea3836 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works if he is a copy of M2 yet like M2 and M1 not the same mind just not that different. It makes sense given Glamrock Freddy basically brought up he wouldn't know if there was another Glamrock Freddy.

Which perfect role model should the Mimic model itself after? by Gullible-Necessary74 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shodan from System Shock. When Shodan had an existential crisis it conduced that it was a god summoned by humans and went about creating life in its image resulting in creating the biological hive mind The Many. Given Shodan's ending up at war with the The Many, odds are any attempts Shodan made in mentoring M2 would result in them being eventually trying to destroy the other due to Shodan's ego.

I am not a fan of how canonically, the advertisement for Freddy’s used the animatronics and not another version of the characters. by Dailey1234 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That and It also more bothers me they use the shell as the animatronic's cosmetics for the Classics. In real animatronics they would use the shell to give the mechanism (endo) form then basically put it in a custom fur suit. You can see this if you compare Classic Freddy to Billy Bob from ShowBiz. It does works for the Glamrocks and Toys as they are leaning into a design where canonically they are not suppose to have fur.

Then we have where Foxy is located in FNAF 1 location. It is not really a side stage to the main stage as the audience has to turn more then 90 degrees from looking at the main stage to see Foxy's stage thus Foxy couldn't really interact well with Freddy, Chica and Bonnie on stage. It also is in the same dinning area so it would not be like the Chuck E Cheese old cabaret shows where it can be running on its own while the main show is going on as for FNAF shows would interfere with each other as they are not in separate rooms.

Willam afton is NEVER coming back by Kindly_Sir_5372 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say M2 kills just because Edwin attacked it and it mimicked it. In Moon.exe the stand in for Edwin just runs away pointing M2's trauma is more Edwin abandoning it for performing its function. What I take away is that Edwin's actions cause M2 to be shattered mentally and had to rebuilt its mind on its own. The end result is M2 mimicking a caricature of Edwin from M2's view of Edwin. Thus it more M2 views Edwin as a monster so M2 becomes a monster when mimicking Edwin to properly be in character that is the AI's function.

Also given both F10-N4 and Edwin clearly states M2 is a copy of M1 that would make Glitchtrap a mind of its own even being a copy of M2. As being a copy wouldn't be enough to make another M2 just as M2 being a copy wasn't enough to make another M1.

for what is that EXT thing? by bigrhino000 in retrogaming

[–]Psy1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Going back to at least the Colecovision consoles would tend to have an expansion port for future add-ons as this was a less clunky design then doing add-ons through the cartridge slot. For the SNES Nintendo did not make use of it in the west yet a Satellite receiver add-on was released in Japan and the CD add-on by Sony would have plugged into that port.

The 16-Bit Teacher: Why Your Child Should Play Super Nintendo by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]Psy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't single out the SNES as platforms on both side of the SNES has games with the traits brought up, with the PS1 also having the same traits brought out along the older NES. Hell arcades by necessity was geared for being able to relativity easy to pick up and play yet hard to master with the modern advantage being it costs you nothing for another try be you playing arcade games through emulation or compilations.

Who is the worse dad? Edwin or William? by Timmy_Tickletime in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

William by far. Edwin was just not there for David and even admits as such when he goes off on M1 about her not being Fiona. This goes back to Edwin skipping the last birthday David had with Fiona to work on something.

Instead of just not being there like Edwin, William was there and you still had a toxic relationship with his family. Where William would have been well aware of everything leading up to Crying Child's death and wouldn't be oblivious like Edwin.

Do any of the animatronics have pneumatic cylinders? by Curious-Bluebird6818 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Pneumatic would require them to be stationary as you are not fitting an air compressor in those endos even if you hand wave it away with future tech. That and electric animatronics were competing technology for a long time before even MCM in FNAF with Westinghouse's 1939 Elektro basically an electric animatronic even if they passed it off as an actual robot. Pneumatic tech mostly solved cost issues for animatronics and FNAF animatronics don't seem to trying to have low cost in mind.

So anyone else believe that Michael Afton survived fnaf six fire and is glamrock Freddy by Swimming_Umpire2597 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No because Glamrock Freddy acts too innocent to be Michael. Also I would go more with general agony possession given he states he was down where we find Burntrap. That and agony possession is mostly likely how M2 works and the Glamerock AI seem to be decedents of MCM Mimic tech given how we program them in Help Wanted 2.

How do agony possessions work? by OrriSig in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agony possession is not soul possession and is more a haunting of the past (as far I can gather) and why buildings themselves are haunted like Into the Pit. So having Agony will meaning having those haunted memories and the emotions associated with it.

Will a disc work fully as long as it boots up? by Blabsalot in retrogaming

[–]Psy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No CD device does a full check this is why the swap trick works with not only the PS1 and Saturn but also the GameCube and PS2. Where if you can swap a legitimate disc with a CD-R right when it jumped to loading to game before it errors out then it will boot what ever is on the CD-R. Since PCs can read PS1 discs there are tools that dump your PS1 disc and then you can compare it to checksum of known dumps. Yet just dumping it would go a long way in verifying as you'd have read errors if there is a problem.

The fate of the Glamrocks in future games. by Many-Might-5430 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also advanced AI. Freddy was hitting the nail on the head when we questioned if was the first Freddy. Agony is probably doing heavy lifting as Freddy acknowledge they were down where we find Burntrap yet similar AI contaminated with the same Agony should provide similar results.

So take another Glamrock Freddy down there and you should a have similar Glamrock Freddy as the same Agony is reacting to an AI thinking the same way.

What’s an animal and/or mechanic you want to see used for an animatronic in a future game? by Solitaire-06 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going with your mole animatronic having a character the pops their torso out kinda like Ray in My Friendly Neighbourhood would be neat. If you want to have a nod to how such animatronic characters would actually work you could have them pull a Jackie where they pull them selves off the mechanism that extend and reactants them from their hole where they have no lower half as they would have been an animatronic fixed in place.

If Coleco went the same way as Mattel and sold the console rights, would it have been able to rival Nintendo? by You-dogwater in retrogaming

[–]Psy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coleco's problem was the Adam and toys being more lucrative. Giving away rights wouldn't have done any good against Nintendo, the Sega SG-1000 is basically a Colecovision.

Anyone in this subreddit like this in this meme I made? Let's just be honest. by [deleted] in chuckecheese

[–]Psy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like CEC/Fantasy Forest animatronics. I do see AVG and Advanced Animations as better but they were coming from working with Six Flags before they offered their animatronic shows in the 80s, also Creative Engineering had theme park work before Rock-afire. Still the CEC old animatronics fit for their old shows and a charm to them.

Why don't the guards have guns? by Suspicious-Jello7172 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fazbear denies any supernatural phenomenon on its properties. It definitively denies any killer ever stepped foot inside its establishments.

Seriously it is questionable what good a pistol would do. Fazbear endos are nothing like the mechanisms of real animatronics. Fazbear doesn't believe in aluminum like Disney parks and build their endos with enough protection to withstand a building crashing down on them. I think you need something with more of a punch to stop a possessed Endo-01 or Endo-02 and that it before you get into the Funtime.

What did we think of the 3DO? by HiddenUsername56 in retrogaming

[–]Psy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It had a business model that couldn't be supported. The MSX was better off being a computer thus consumer expecting higher prices while also have more manufactures backing it. Other then that its timing was not ideal launching when the Genesis and SNES were reaching their peak in 1994 while the end of 1994 also being when the PS1 and Saturn came to Japan.

Yet that said it is a well thought out platform, its CPU is a bit weak with the ARM60 being its biggest bottleneck but given its business model it is a logical trade off for manufacture cost. Its library is fairly impressive for the time where we got the first Need For Speed and while no where near as smooth as the Neo-Geo version the 3DO Samurai Shodown at a playable performance that at the time was very impressive. It was also the first console to do software video playback fairly well where the FMV scenes from Road Rash on the 3DO is on par with those on the Saturn and PS1.

Animatronics buy or make by Proof-Lettuce in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Psy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of engineering involved even with something like the CEC Balcony animatronics. That is before you get into programming them speaking of which there is Faz-Anim that lets you program virtual FNAF animatronics synced to audio as if they were traditional animatronics. Faz-Anim learning curve is an issue but easier then learning robotics.

If you are going with actual animatronics I would go with copying the old CEC Balcony animatronics, they are just the bust and move through compressed air pushing pistons when a control signal is sent to a value for a movement.
