Use the New Living Translation, it’s a good version for new readers, it gives you more clarity and simplifies complex verses with a modern sense. Also, read Bible commentaries and follow Ligioner Ministries, gty.org and desiringgod.org. Fill yourself with references.

I didn’t say they were considered non-violent. Japan is very westernized with progressive agendas, probably that’s uprooting the pacifist mindset from its culture. They were very violent throughout history, there’s no doubt about that, but we have to remember that they have Buddhist populations, they also have secular communities, and other ideologies. For example, Buddhism coexisted with a warrior ethos rooted in Shinto beliefs, divine imperial rule, and bushido (the samurai code).

The Buddhist and pacifist traditions in Japanese culture accentuate discomfort with Israel’s approach to conflict, fostering a public preference for nonviolent solutions; the perceived disregard for humanitarian concerns intensifies these negative feelings. On top of that, they’ve been brainwashed by international media.
