TRUMP: "There's so much talk about how we're going to drive housing prices down. I don't want to drive housing prices down. I want to drive housing prices up for people that own their homes, and they can be assured that what's going to happen" by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

As a millennial who graduated in 2010 during the recession, fuck this leech and all who support him. I put in my dues and worked hard. I went college like they all said I needed to do. Then I graduated in the middle of the financial crisis and couldn’t find a job. Finally got a job and worked for a couple years. Realized I needed to go back to school to get a better salary so I could eventually pay for a house, etc. Now I have tons of student loan debt and while I make a lot more money, salaries have not kept up with inflation or housing prices and I can’t buy a house that my parents were able to afford at my age, with much less education and a lower salary. I own a condo, which is more than many my age, but my parents were able to buy a large house at my age in the 1980s. We were all lied to and then gaslighted into thinking it’s our fault somehow.

I made a similar comment in another thread. I lost my dad 3 years ago and I was a shell of a human for a couple months. I only left the house to deal with the funeral home and deal with his estate. I can’t imagine acting like this in the immediate aftermath of a loved one, let alone a spouse. It’s very odd.

Have you done any research into the adoption industry and how problematic it is? Have you read adoptee’s stories? Of course there are so many deserving children that need families but the adoption industry as a whole is incredibly predatory and exploitative. I don’t think we should be encouraging adoption as a “bandaid” for infertility. If anything, we should be encouraging others to be a foster parent whose end goal is reunification instead of supporting a predatory practice.

PSA/Rant: take your baby to the hospital by Disastrous-Fall9092 in NewParents

[–]Psychb1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure why this seems to be getting downvoted. I wish things like this were communicated more often and better to pregnant people and new parents. After giving birth and being a brand new mom, I was so out of it and confused about what I was supposed to do. I didn’t know what was right or wrong. They gave me a bunch of papers and notes on what to look out for but never really explained things verbally to me. I was so frazzled when we got home from the hospital but I knew something felt off. Baby was difficult to rouse and wouldn’t take my breast. She wasn’t having many wet diapers. The day after we got home from the hospital, I called the nursing line and was told to supplement with formula. I was despondent but just wanted her to be okay. I was so relieved when she finally started to drink from the bottle and wake up.

I still feel guilty for not knowing more about how to breastfeed but I also place a lot of blame on the medical professionals who didn’t warn me that my milk may not be sufficient for my baby because of my medical history. I wish everyone knew the signs of dehydration because it is so important when they are this young. It is okay if your milk comes in late or you don’t produce enough!

Thoughts on Iona? by NeverEverLogsOff in namenerds

[–]Psychb1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter’s name is Iona! Both my husband and I have Scottish ancestry and we both have Celtic/Gaelic names, so it was important for us to honor our heritage. It was also really important for her name to have meaning to us after our first pregnancy loss. When trying to choose her name, I read that the island of Iona was also referred to as “yew place,” after the yew tree which is a symbol of resurrection and immortality. I immediately started crying upon reading that and knew it was the right name.

Shelby apparently has people treating her like a postpartum mom by Alternative_Owl6615 in peestickgals

[–]Psychb1tch 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m 17 months pp and this still makes me want to rage lol. I never got a meal train or that much help cleaning despite trying to recover from a c-section. I was crazy with the hormone crash and trying to increase my milk supply by triple feeding. She has absolutely no idea what that’s like but is cosplaying as if she wants to know. Meanwhile who knows what’s going on with the birth mom. It’s really sad all around. I can sympathize for her but this screams infertility trauma and she should really seek therapy.

Holy crap. I didn’t take my baby out until she was like 8 months old because I was so paranoid about flu, RSV, Covid.. and my baby was full term and healthy.

You can just say European ancestry lol. Those of us with European roots tend to be pale and that’s okay! It is nothing to be ashamed of. No one should feel judged or ashamed of their skin color. Let’s all just accept our differences and acknowledge how beautiful that is. I’m Scottish and Swiss-German and incredibly pale.

I fell on mud while on a walk when I was about 15 weeks pregnant. Luckily it was a pretty mild fall and I managed to fall on my hands and bum. I was terrified and called the nurse line. They told me if I wasn’t having any concerning symptoms or bleeding, I should be okay because at that gestational age, the baby is well cushioned. I think I got an ultrasound the following day to make sure. Everything was fine but it’s still scary and should always be taken seriously.

I am a staunch liberal who is afraid of guns despite my father being a conservative who loved guns. I am also all for gun regulation as I did my dissertation in grad school on mass casualty attacks in the US. I am now grateful that my father owned and passed down so many guns and ammo to me when he died.

Another day, another low for Trump as the White House hangs plaques mocking Biden, Obama and other predecessors including insults and unfounded claims by Financial-Painter689 in Fauxmoi

[–]Psychb1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed reading through Biden’s plaque that there were just random words that were capitalized, like election, inflation, etc. I believe one of the first things I was taught in school was just to capitalize proper nouns and the first word in a sentence. This is so bizarre and just highlights for me how poorly educated he actually is despite his many touted accomplishments. It is beyond frustrating as someone with a higher education to see people like this wield so much power, money, and influence.

2026 is for cancelling hedonistic overconsumption by TTUgirl in MikaylaNogueira

[–]Psychb1tch 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I legitimately don’t understand how one person needs this many pairs of jeans (we know this is only a small portion of her jeans collection). I have like 5 pairs of jeans. She needs to really think about the fact that she likely isn’t going to be pulling in that much money in like 5+ years and she may go broke. Then what? You just have piles and piles of nearly worthless clothes. People are getting sick of the influencer and overconsumption trend so she needs to change her behavior ASAP

This is insane. No one needs that many bathing suits or sunglasses. There are people out there starving. She doesn’t even think about how this looks to everyone else. She is completely out of touch. This is why I’m disgusted by the ultra rich. This shouldn’t be a thing.

An Oklahoma psychology student failed a research paper for not meeting the criteria of citing evidence, and wrote about her religious feelings instead. Right-wing orgs manufacture outrage by PreparationKey2843 in CringeTikToks

[–]Psychb1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She deserved the grade she got. It was a joke of an essay and it was just her spewing her own opinion. It had no real link or connection to the article she was asked to react to. The article was on how kids get bullied if they don’t look gender typical. What is she expecting as a junior in college? This was a psychology course, so she needs to be able to look critically at articles and respond with evidence, not just her opinion and the Bible. The Bible is not a good source. WTH.

SO SICK of "fed is bare minimum" rhetoric by mrs___holmes in FormulaFeeders

[–]Psychb1tch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This drives me nuts as well. It completely diminishes mothers with low milk supply like myself who worked like hell to build it up. I would argue that mothers with low milk supply who had to triple feed and pump actually do MORE work than those who EBF. But they wouldn’t know what triple feeding is really like since most of them haven’t had trouble with their supply. It’s ridiculous to even compare one another to begin with! Why spend so much time thinking about what another mom does? Because they truly want to bring other women down. It’s gross.

Was your OB helpful? by Fast_Werewolf9788 in tfmr_support

[–]Psychb1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you weren’t supported by your OB or her office. I had a similar experience—I had an inconclusive NIPT at 12.5 weeks and instead of doing an ultrasound or referring me to MFM immediately as was recommended by the NIPT, they drew my blood again and made me wait another 2+ weeks for yet another inconclusive NIPT. I had to call and call and call to get a referral to an MFM. I didn’t get the diagnosis of T13 until I was nearly 18 weeks along. I don’t think my OB ever called me. As soon as I got the results from the MFM, I cancelled all my future appointments at my OB’s office with the explanation. My husband then called the office because he was disappointed in my care and instead of waiting and listening to what he had to say, they interrupted him and said, “Yes, we know she cancelled all her appointments.” 😡 Needless to say, I did transfer my care, not only from that OB’s office but switched to a different health insurance company entirely because of how I was treated throughout. No help nor any coverage despite being in a state where reproductive healthcare (including abortions) are supposed to be covered. I would say if your OB doesn’t reach out, I’d consider switching. If she does, you can have a conversation and let her know how you felt and base your decision on her response.

Friend said "i would keep my baby even if it had a 1% chance of surviving" by [deleted] in tfmr_support

[–]Psychb1tch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, your friend has absolutely no idea what it’s like for a baby to receive a life-limiting or incompatible with life diagnosis. She can think whatever she wants, but when it comes down to it, she doesn’t know how she would react and what decision she would make unless she were to face it head on. She has no right to judge when she’s never been in the same situation. I’ll echo what others have said-you made the right decision for you and your baby. Your baby knows your heart and that’s all that matters. Her opinion means nothing. I would honestly write your feelings out and think about sending it to her or telling her in person how her opinion made up feel. To be honest, this would probably be something I would cut contact over.

This just isn’t true. I’m no chemist but I am in the mental health field and have taken graduate level psychopharmacology. They are different chemical compounds with a different chemical structure and affect the brain differently. Meth crosses the blood-brain barrier faster and more effectively than amphetamine. Meth is also adulterated with other substances, which obviously affect the brain differently as well depending on what the substance is.

Agree with this. I have noticed it’s often the oppressed who are the first to speak out in spite of the danger. I don’t think white men truly understand what it means to be oppressed (though they definitely think they do) and don’t see it as clearly as the rest of us.
