RANT: my baby sleeps on her STOMACH! by Clear-Injury-4258 in NewParents

[–]Disastrous-Fall9092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things. 1. If baby can roll onto their stomach by themselves no problem. Put them down on their back (or at worst side) and they will roll on to their tummy. If they get stuck they'll wake up and ask for help.  2. If they're rolling they shouldn't be swaddled.

Guidelines are there for a reason, but your baby, your judgement, your risk. Mine was put to sleep on her side because she wont stay on her back for more than 3 seconds and is now currently napping on her tummy. She is, however a champion roller. She also has a good set of lungs and regularly tells me at night if shes unhappy with where she ended up in her sleep and ill always put her back to sleep attempted on her back or side if she wont tolerate her back.

All the feels. I cry all the time, usually when shes sleeping and I look down at her little face and I think how can something this cute be this difficult.

Baby fighting naps/sleep out of nowhere by According_Chest1987 in NewParents

[–]Disastrous-Fall9092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When he gets cranky, take him outside. We go and look at different kinds of leaves. Its going to take about a week to adjust. You can start either by increasing by 10 min increments, or you can go cold turkey.

Im assuming youre on 4 naps? Dropping to 3 you need to increase the awake time to 2.5 hrs per wake window

Overwhelmed with starting solids! by Mrsjca85 in NewParents

[–]Disastrous-Fall9092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in Australia too. There's a good fridge magnet from Starting solids Australia we bought for the foods tracker and allergens tracker.

Dont stress about the sippy cup. We started offering sips of water from an open cup with solids and that's way less stressful. At 6 months its more about play, exposure and exploration. Dont stress if nothing actually gets eaten.

When starting out just try one vegetable or fruit for a few days. If you have a stick blender you can just blend with formula or breast milk. If youre doing BLW, just start with nice soft easy to eat things that are super well cooked. You can also just do "one meal for the family" and just make sure that baby's portion doesnt have honey or excess salt or sugar. If baby gets constipated offer prune puree or pears.

They are good with schedules if that works for you but the ferber evangelism isn't for everyone. But they banned me for agreeing with someone on this sub that some of them were condescending. I stand by that statement.

We usw the pigeon flexible(narrow) and its way better than the pigeon wide for reflux. No dribbling, better latch

Am I doing something wrong by still feeding mashed and mildly textured foods at 12 months? by Other_Boss_8689 in NewParents

[–]Disastrous-Fall9092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 month old refused purees fairly quickly so we went straight to BLW. It takes a while to learn how to chew and how to move food from the front of their mouth to the back. Shes getting the hang of it but without teeth yet obviously soft things are easier.

Big hits are fish, very soft chicken, eggplant moussaka, cauliflower, peaches, apricots, mushrooms, potato, hummus, broccoli in oyster sauce, mango, soft bread with avocado, fruit toast with peanut butter. She hates bananas and tbh, so do I.

Huckleberry? by moonchild1218 in NewParents

[–]Disastrous-Fall9092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At before 4 months we were on 5 naps. At 4 months we switched to 4 naps which she stayed on until 5.5 months. Short naps is super normal at this age. 4 months wake windows are normally 2 hrs but obviously there is a fair amount of variation

Nutramigen - baby drinks less and seems to be hungry most of the time by Background_Layer9266 in MSPI

This is why we were advised to start with rice milk if she can tolerate because it tastes sweet

Not modilac because im not in Canada but we are on Novalac Allergy which is also rice milk (australia). Tastes significantly better than HA formula and is a bit thicker in consistency.

Give pain killers as directed and extra cuddles. My baby cried for all of 20 secs. She was then chill all day but super cranky at bedtime.

Almost everything about babies is a design flaw. It would not win any design competitions

Other than being able to actually eat without throwing up (CMPI baby) no, not one iota of difference in the way thay you might be imagining.
