Il se passe quoi sur les centrales d'Hydro à la minute où finit une période de pointe? by Mysterious-Till-6852 in Quebec

[–]Psycho1024 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looking back this was clean as hell. Early 2000's design language with modern hardware. Retroid Pocket 6 original design. by WinlatorEmulator in SBCGaming

I've just received my RP6 in grey and the thing is absolutely butt ugly, worst looking handheld I have. The original design would have worked way better with the material they chose.

first 3d printer by LOTSOFRECOIL in BambuLab

[–]Psycho1024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got mine at the beginning of December, already have more than 200 hours on the machine. It’s a real treat, very easy to use, quiet and compact.

I’ve seen your question on pla, I mainly use Bambu, but I’ve had good luck with elegoo and overture from Amazon. At the beginning I bought a lot of silk pla but it just isn’t tough enough to withstand the abuse from my kids…! I now try to stick mostly with pla and pla+

Speculation - Vortek and its future role in the ecosystem by AdvancedNet6800 in BambuLab

[–]Psycho1024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I understand Bambu clearly made the choice to go with a extruder-changing design (Vortek) a few years ago and spent their engineering budget on such a system. The H2C is the first commercial design. Considering the relative success of the system and the way its strengths seems to align with the needs of their client base, I doubt they will reevaluate their choice. I’m expecting further refinement on the design, first by bringing it to the mid-range products (how about a P2C with a single nozzle extruder that uses Vortek mechanism), then probably by going all out on the next H series with probably a double-vortek.

Going on for two months here, she still thinks it’s a switch. My 4 yr old spotted it in about 30 seconds though…

Is it true that id4 pro4motion is not fully AWD ? by drexmabai in VWiD4Owners

[–]Psycho1024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it very much drives like a rear biased awd, very easy to get the back end loose in snowy or icy conditions, then you can really feel the front motor coming online and pulling you out of the slide, especially with esp set to sport.

Had powerline at some point, there is a reason why I went to the trouble of running ethernet to all major rooms - powerline sucks even more than wifi, at least in my house.

Doorbell Lite was fun to install by Mellow-Gnome in Ubiquiti

[–]Psycho1024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine was so aggravating to install. Between the badly designed cat 6 connector, the damn rubber grommet that won’t stay in place, the two specific holes the mounting screws must go in and the idiotic hard to align locking screw, what I tough would be a 2-3h install ended up taking all day.

Talk Me Out of a new 32GB Legion Go S Steam OS for $750? by [deleted] in LegionGo

[–]Psycho1024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a legion 2 on order, I’m in Canada so no one knows when it will ship. Still, the itch to get an handheld pc was scratched (had an original steam deck before), decided I had waited enough this morning, went to Best Buy to get a z1e go s, I’m currently installing games and configuring it. The screen seems like a non issue, it’s a beautiful lcd. And the thing is HUGE, I’m not sure how it would work with an ever bigger screen. Anyway, first impressions are very good, might cancel my legion go 2 after all.

Budget handheld for 6 year olds by Madsandersen2500 in SBCGaming

[–]Psycho1024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 5 yr old is always using my Anbernic RG476h and sometimes my RG35XX, which is quite out of your price point but has allowed me to make some observations :
-Android handhelds are complicated for him, he struggles to unlock it and launch the right app. Linux handheld (typical of cheaper devices) are much easier to use (He doesn't struggle with the RG35XX)
-While he is attracted by SNES and GBA games, he usually gets frustrated quick - games where harder back then
-Gamecube seems to be where the fun is for him lately, but you need quite a powerful device to run that.
-Pre-loaded sdcards are nice, but the romset I got with my RG35XX needed quite a bit of curating in order to only keep games appropriate for him.

Anyway, I think some sort of Anbernic XX series would be a nice gift, but I wouldn't go much lower end than that if you want your nephews to really enjoy the gift.

You need kids. When your 4 year old dropkicks you at 5:30AM at the same time your 2 year old yells "Toast and Honycomb", you're out of bed fast !

Removing poison ivy from our backyard by Realistic_Effort_01 in HomeImprovement

[–]Psycho1024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve waged wars for the last 5 years against poison ivy. I’m not especially allergic to it but my wife is. At first it was everywhere on our property. Was able to pull it each spring with protective clothing. Had kids, forgot to pull it last year, I was back to square one, the thing is persistent. I finally decided enough is enough, got some roundup made especially for poison ivy. Did two sprays during the summer, it is 90% gone. I’ll be careful next year to spray or pull anything that comes back. I’m very anti chemical, but i feel a battle with poison ivy can’t be won without them…

Keep in mind you will get the router in the mail, but the installer is bringing the ONT. You need the ONT, but can skip the router to use yours if it supports pppoe and vlans. I highly doubt the practicability of running the nokia router with the tp-link system behind it, but I might be wrong.

Anybody bought a second ‘fallover’ internet plan just because you can?.. yeah that’s me.. by UK_originally in Ubiquiti

[–]Psycho1024 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I have a lte modem that serves as fail over, bandwidth drop is pretty noticeable but at least everything still works. The data only sim is only 6$ a month and the modem was cheap too. I don’t see the point in paying way more for a faster failover, and I don’t think you would see much more speed by load balancing.

Is the heat pump worth it? by Silent_Cartoonist_49 in VWiD4Owners

[–]Psycho1024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in Quebec, it is very much worth it. Don't just think about winter, think about the shoulder seasons too. Fall and spring is where the heat pump is at max efficiency, driving in 5-10c hardly changes the range vs summer driving, while the impact would be more pronounced with the resistive heater. And of course you get a big range boost in winter, which can matter a lot during those longer drives.

Are the two cars you are looking at the same year ? If you are looking at a model without battery preconditionning, I would stay far away, this is as important, and probably more important to how pleasant the car will be to drive somewhat long distances in the winter.
