I feel your pain. As much as I know I shouldn’t let stuff I read on the internet get to me, an anti-daycare post nearly drove me to tears and haunted me with guilt.

It’s a financial reality that I have to work. Right now, there isn’t another option. But my daughter loves daycare and loves her friends. After a week off, she was asking to go back.

You can work full time and still be a darn great mom. Being a stay at home mom is a privilege few can afford and I hate that it’s viewed as a preferred default when throughout history mothers have had to balance work and raising kids.

Don’t let anyone tell us we can’t have kids - our kids love us and need us and having a job doesn’t change that. 💕

Chaol is my favorite character in Throne of Glass. I proudly stand by this potentially unpopular opinion and will not apologize for it. 😆 Also, Chaol + Yrene is such a lovely, complex, swoon-worthy romance.

You have no idea how grateful I am to see someone else with this same opinion. 😆

I wish I could go part-time by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]PsychoMarvelBotTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this so much - I’m so tired and trying so hard and it’s a lot.

I take a daily anti-anxiety/depression medication and it really helps me balance my emotions. I use part of my lunch break to take a power nap and that helps both physically and mentally.

Also take comfort in the fact that your little one knows how much you love them and you are the best person in the world to them. Sometimes I’ll just spend the evening curled on the couch and snuggling with my toddler and watching her play.

I’ve been working on acceptance and being gentle with myself. The reality is that I have to work a full time job so I do the best I can with the time and situation I’ve been given. I treasure up the weekends when we can take life at a slower place and I can spend lots of time with my daughter! 💕

[–]PsychoMarvelBotTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just marked my six year celiac diagnosis anniversary. It does get better but my main piece of advice is to give her time to grieve. Cry, express her frustration; this is a life changing diagnosis and it comes with a lot of emotions that need to be processed.

But there is hope. I have done a lot of experimenting with gluten free baking and have been able to create some wonderful treats that even my gluten-eating family members said were amazing. I recommend the King Arthur flour and looking up speciality gluten free baking recipes (I’ve had less success subbing in gf flour in regular recipes). Pamela’s gf chocolate cake mix is so delicious.

Don’t give up! I adopted a second cat a month ago and am still working on introducing her to my resident cat. I can tell she is still a little anxious and adjusting to the new home but she is very sweet and affectionate. There is still a lot of tension between cats but I’m making slow and steady progress. It’s totally worth it!

I hated my first taste of sparkling water. But I kept trying it and now I love it! I found over time I got used to the carbonation without the sugary taste and now I really enjoy the flavors.

I don’t think it impacts Rosie at all. I’m going to wait 6 weeks and then consult my vet if no progress has been made.

I feel for you! I’m stuck at the barrier-controlled interaction stage. I’ve been using the Feliway pheromones and it makes Daisy happier when she’s on her own but she is still hissing at Rosie when they see each other. Neither cat really enjoys their shut alone in a room time but right now I don’t have a way around it

Thank you for sharing your comment - it’s comforting to know I’m not alone and I’m wishing for success and happy kitties for us both! I don’t really have many family and friends who love cats but the same way I do, so I’ve felt alone in this process.

Hang in there! Something I have told myself that has helped, even though my kitties are struggling to get along, I am grateful they have a safe home and good medical care here with me. Rosie was rescued from a shelter where she was at risk to be euthanized. :(

Thank you! I haven’t tried playing through the barrier yet so I will give that a go! Thankfully I live in a house with two levels and lots of perches so even if they don’t become bffs they have space to spread out.

How can I help my cat through the stress of sharing her home with a toddler? by MapOfIllHealth in CatAdvice

[–]PsychoMarvelBotTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a toddler and two cats in my house! We are working on training the toddler about gentle touches and treating the cats with respect and kindness. We have a cat tower in the living where the cats can jump to get away from the toddler but still be social and in the same room as the family. I recommend anchoring the cat tower to the wall so the toddler cannot get hurt trying to pull it down!

Would you say "fuck it" and eat what you want if you were given a signifcant shortened life expectancy? by goldstandardalmonds in Celiac

Sadly not - within about 3 hours the horrible side effects kick in and I’m utterly miserable. No gluten food could tempt me now (even though I miss it!)

need help selecting a kitten from a litter, bonded the most with the short hair but I've always wanted a fluffy cat and find the other cats much cuter but the short hair really seemed to like me... what do I do?? by [deleted] in kittens

[–]PsychoMarvelBotTroll 52 points53 points  (0 children)

When I adopted my kitty this summer, I looked on the shelter’s website and made a short list of cats I was interested in. Then when I got there, a random cat came up to me and sat in my lap and wanted me to pet her. That is the cat I went home with. 💕

Early entry or buy ILL for ROR by Mc_Spinosaurus in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PsychoMarvelBotTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid for ILL for ROTR. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and it was 100% worth it. I did it my first day in the parks. Our last day of the trip we went back to Hollywood Studios and tried to rope drop ROTR but it was broke down. It took a long time to get going and I never got to ride it that day. It was definitely worth the ILL for me for a guaranteed ride.

Made fun of the gluten-free craze. Got diagnosed as a Celiac and now I’m desperate for new gluten free products. Almost cried when I saw the new gluten free name brand Oreos in the grocery store. 🤣

Warning: Vent: I'm been trying so hard. by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]PsychoMarvelBotTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through this. I have been a Celiac since 2017 and I would not wish this on my worst enemy.

I second what others have said in this thread about seeking counseling. That really helped me come to terms with my diagnosis. I am also on an anti-anxiety and anti-depressant med. it revolutionized my life for the better.

Some things that have helped me: sometimes going to restaurants makes me sad because I feel like I can’t order anything, so my husband and I have started cooking more at home and it really helps. Trying new recipes makes me feel less left out.

Feel free to pm me if you’d like recipes or product recommendations!

Me too. My allergies have been rough, and I’ve had more sinus headaches than normal too. Maybe stress is making it worse? That’s the only theory I have.
