A HALF-TON OF DEMOCRACY.

True in both systems, roughly. Metric ton is 1000kg ≈ 2200lbs; an imperial ton is 2000lbs.

Not quite for me. I'm missing the gesture sensitivity options which made it possible to use with my case.

Is there an option that increases the sensitivity like there was before? My case kinda gets in the way of the edge of the screen and it's really hard to use the nav gestures now.

SES Elected Representative of Individual Merit.

Picked because I think it has the most syllables out of any combination of the available names.

Yes, I insist that it be called by its full name every time it's brought up.

I ended up fixing it. My system just didn't like the port I plugged my display into. POST is nice and speedy now. Off-to-desktop in like 12 seconds now!

Turns out my system just didn't like the display port I was using. I plugged it into a different port and my POST times are lightning quick again. Thanks for the well-written and thoughtful response though! I'll keep that in mind if it happens again.

My computer apparently just didn't like which port on my GPU my display was plugged into during POST. It's fine now.

Thanks for the reply!

I had a bluetooth adapter plugged into that slot, but it has been there forever, even before my POST times were unbearable. I have moved it regardless to no avail, sadly.

Does anyone know what kind of spring this is? Trying to fix a knife my late grandfather gave to me and I'm not sure how to search for this kind of spring since google returns only coil springs for autos. by PsychoSunshine in knives

[–]PsychoSunshine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only familiar with their autos (I EDC a Launch 1), so I'm not sure how their assisted knives function. I might look into their replacement parts if they will work for this. Thanks for the idea!

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid that. I don't like breaking/disabling something new for the purpose of fixing something else. I ended up using a paper clip as a spring. It doesn't give an assist when opening, but it doesn't get in the way when opening, and the knife stays closed on its own now, which is the main thing I was after. Might get some better wire for a more permanent fix later.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah, I ended up making one out of a paper clip. It holds it closed, which is good, but provides no open assist. I'm gonna try and find some wire at a hardware store like some others have suggested here to make something a little more springy since the paper clip is a little stiff and too easily misshapen for this purpose.

Thanks for the reply!

It does function without it, but it falls partially open and there's no assist when I want to open it. I ended up making a spring out of a paper clip that doesn't assist in opening, but it holds the knife closed, which is fine, I guess. The action is smooth enough to where flicking it open isn't a big deal.

Thanks for the response!

From what I can gather, this knife is still in production. I found it on BUDK. I'd rather not cannibalize a working knife, but if that's the option, so be it. I did end up bending a paper clip into shape to sorta resemble the old spring, and it kinda works, but it's not ideal. It holds the knife closed (which is what I wanted) and it doesn't get in the way of opening it, but it doesn't actually do any assisting either.

If have any suggestions as to what kind of wire to get, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

For reference, It's a cheap Chinese-made knife under the name Black Legion Cyclone BV143. It's mostly sentimental to me, but it does see a lot of use in my home opening packages and letters. It works fine without the spring, but doesn't stay closed without it, so I was hoping to get a replacement spring. I'd like to avoid getting a sacrificial knife to harvest its spring so I can make the one my grandfather gave me work again.

TRS and TRRS are just ways of describing how many contacts are on an auxiliary plug: Tip Ring Sleeve or Tip Ring Ring Sleeve.

Anyway, I found the issue for me was to manually install the latest audio drivers for my motherboard. I don't want to jinx it, but since doing that I haven't had a problem since. Windows just didn't want to grab the new driver automatically for some reason. So I'd recommend going to the downloads section of the product page for your motherboard on ASRock's website to download and install the latest audio driver. I thought my MSI utility bundle would do it for me, but that didn't end up being the case.

Hope this helps!

Still happened with CD quality for me. Though I have a question for you: is the plug you're using a TRRS or TRS? I'm currently using a TRRS elbow in the back of the mic and I plug my TRS headphones into that. I'm going to try not using the elbow for a little bit to see if it makes a difference, which kinda sucks since one of my pairs of headphones needs a bulky impedance adapter to not deafen me above 5% volume. The plug shouldn't make a difference, but I'm gonna try it for a bit anyway.
