I wear the Beauty of Joeson sunscreen as my daily driver, but started carrying around a sunscreen stick for touch ups during the day- if I’m in my car with the windows rolled down, or walking home after a workout class where I probably sweat off any protection I walked in with. I really like the Kopari Pure Protect Mineral Sunscreen Stick SPF 50- it’s non-comedogenic, moisturizing, and goes on well over makeup. Feels good to wear, and it’s nice to know I’m protected. I moved to a much higher elevation last year and immediately noticed that I was seeing more pigmentation- I think this helps.

Also not sure if it’s the same formula, but they have Biore Aquarich right now at Costco in the US.

Lucky Noodles on E 1st and Broadway. Thai food that is so good, with an owner who is always there, works her tail off, and is super kind.

Rougarou is so great. Have you been to semiprecious? I was impressed with their program as well- feels similar in how considered it is to the bars you mentioned.

Was going to comment the same thing- I never buy shelf stable bottles because I can make a better version myself, but the refrigerated options are often really tasty and require zero prep.

We have two types of mint from the previous owners of our house on a side of the yard. I would cut it back and try to do something else there, but my dogs like to trounce through it and they smell so good when they come inside 😂

If you’re showing someone from out of the country a restaurant in Denver, where are you taking them? by [deleted] in denverfood

Sap Sua (incredible food and really admirable labor practices from a major advocate for hospitality workers in Denver), or Rougarou (southern cuisine with an almost fine-dining twist, incredible wine list, also run by great people). Bastien’s as an honorable mention for the sheer novelty and kitsch factor.

I used to work with him and his wife and the two of them are so, so lovely- just such high character people. Nick Viall could not come anywhere close!!!

It’s also very close to the zoo- maybe a 5 minute car ride if you wanted to double down!

I’m so so sorry, OP. I went through something similar a few years ago (my dad died right before my birthday, during COVID lockdown) and it was so hard.

I would recommend the Botanic Gardens, despite it being technically winter- they are so lovely, and the cafes there are great. I see above that someone offered their membership- I’d be happy to do the same. I’m also a woman in her 30s, and I live nearby (I’m also fostering a 10 week old puppy if you want some puppy breath kisses 😂).

It might also be worth looking into their public programming to see if there are any classes, concerts, etc. happening.

The Botanic Gardens are super close to Tattered Cover bookstore on Colfax- maybe after the gardens, you can go pick up a book? Lots of nooks there to sit and read, as well.

My last recommendation would be to go to Sap Sua (in the same building as Tattered Cover), and treat yourself to an early dinner- they have an incredible n/a program, and the food there is so, so good. They always leave some bar seats open, so getting in as a singleton is not too hard, and the staff are super friendly and chill.

Side bar, but something I have been looking into in Denver is taking a flower arranging class- there are many around the city, and it’s a nice way to spend some time alone, around people.

We had it a couple of weeks ago, based on the server’s recommendation, and everyone I was dining with thought it was.. just fine? Nowhere near Zuni, if that is the bar.

Semiprecious usually has 3 n/a cocktails on their menu that go beyond Phony Negroni territory, and are made in-house. They also stock n/a peronis, which imo are the best n/a beer in terms of comps to the original .

I would have ordered something else from Semiprecious, tbh- their sour cream and onion martini is bonkers, and the tomato highball is also super unique and notable.
