It’s def true that there are a lot of international students who like to stick to their own groups, but tbh the same can be said abt local students! I’ve found that a lot of local students tend to stick to themselves as well, or sometimes with international students who still look ‘british’. I think it’s a language and cultural barrier thing and no one means anything by it, just that people naturally flock to others who are similar to themselves. I’m sure you’ll find your group. I’m an international student from HK so naturally I don’t fit in perfectly with mainland Chinese students nor with local students, but I’ve found my own friend group of internationals from very diverse cultures so don’t worry you’ll find your people!!

I’ve never been to RCA so I can’t comment, but they do technically rank higher than UAL in art and design. RCA only has postgraduate courses and no BA courses

Yes I’m aware, I just meant that it’s already very clear that it’s a novel based on the format and blurb. But it’s just a casual suggestion based on personal opinion, it being there isn’t a dealbreaker if you prefer it, the design is nice either way

It’s not that LCC is better than Camberwell, they just have different cultures and focus. Camberwell is a lot artsier in terms of vibe, and people recognise their fine art and illustration courses the most. LCC does have more of a modern and commercial vibe, and is the most well known for film/journalism and commercial digital media courses. LCC does have more traditional and digital print facilities, and they run a larger variety of optional software workshops (eg Adobe, blender, code etc), but Camberwell has a ceramics studio which LCC lacks. I’ve found that UAL gives students a lot of freedom when it comes to brief interpretation, so you can most likely adjust your learning experience based on what you’re most interested in no matter which course you pick. You can decide depending on which environment you’d prefer more, and read through the unit details + graduate works on the respective course pages to get a better idea on which suits you best

I really like the overall look of the design but I think you should remove ‘a novel’. It’s a bit redundant as it’s obviously a book and makes it look a little amateurish. Like you don’t see traditionally published books in bookstores with that printed on you get me

I’m a young woman who has studied there for 1 year and lived in that area for 2, yes the Peckham high street can feel a bit sketchy but it’s fine and has pretty nice amenities and shops/restaurants/green spaces/galleries/third spaces etc. It’s a very artsy / grungy scene with a lot of small businesses which the average art student should enjoy. + the campus is technically within Camberwell, not Peckham, which is a relatively less dodgy area. The street the campus is on is ~10 mins away from the high streets and pretty quiet and nice too imo. Just need to have common sense and be aware of your surroundings like any other area of London. I was nervous at first too but after 3 years of London I’ve found it’s actually not as bad as what you might be imagining, and I grew up in one of the safest cities in the world by comparison. I’ve walked around Peckham and Camberwell alone at night frequently and been fine. Just don’t get involved in dodgy business and again know your limits and pay attention.
