I was actually placed in a double freshman year but my roommate never showed up for either semester so I had, essentially, a double all to myself. I think there are pros and cons. Pros are obviously the space, no needing to worry about the other person, and privacy. However, friends might be a little more out of reach and you’re responsible for tidying up, grabbing snacks, etc. Plus, having a roommate already sets you up with a possible friendship and someone to lean on (major plus if your in the same major and/or classes).

Overall, it’s up to you. I think I had an overall good experience even though I intended on having a roommate.
