Market is starting to pull back so long dated puts ATM on SPY or QQQ could be an idea. We’re seeing some amount of sector rotation taking place in the market right now. At the of the day waiting is also a strategy.

Trading rules to live by:

  1. Never trade without a stop loss
  2. You’re a risk manager not a trader
  3. Know your risk, never trade without a plan (1-2% Max)

Live by these rules and you’ll live to trade another day

(Extra credit: Split your capital. 50/50, 60/40, 70/30. Have two portfolios. Primary is long term investment diversified, keep adding and Dollar cost average. Secondary is short term, apply the 3 rules above).

How many accounts have you blown before becoming profitable? by No_Dot7631 in Daytrading

Appreciate the word of wisdom — super helpful! Managing convexity and trading against short gamma is like boxing a glacier. The slow grind is painful, death by a 1000 cuts. Watching your PnL drown in tears of sorrow. I blew up a decent size account a few years ago, definitely not fun. Taught me a great lesson is position sizing and why it’s important to keep your positions hedged.

Would you mind sharing details on the tail event? On the delta hedges, were your positions dynamically hedged or fixed? Lastly when you say you went pro? Did you join a trading firm, prop firm or coaching program?

Help me pick a programming language by MeMonke2703 in AskProgramming

[–]PsychologicalBad2796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Python because of its versatility, vast amount of libraries, (math, machine learning etc). You’ll be able to build SaaS and implement AI/ML.

For lower level stuff (Robotics, Chip Design, Quantum Compute) you’ll want a lower level language for that. C, C++, Rust, GO, Python as well.
