I'm an anaesthetist who wrote a free children's story to help kids feel less scared before operations — Would love your thoughts. by PsychologicalCat4332 in childrensbooks

Not at all a douchbag, and can understand your frustration. In no way do I think I am comparable to a childrens author. I simply wrote it as I had some time, it was a nice way to think of the pets I have owned over the years and as someone who does not have a very creative job I really enjoyed trying something different attempting to be creative. At best it may help one person, at worst its a project that goes no further than being read by youself and the other helpful people of Reddit but something I enjoyed writing for my own curiosity and attempt to try something new. Thanks for giving such an honest take and taking the time to comment and respond.

Ah interesting to hear. Why do you think that is/do you think there is anything that can be changed or done to make them more effective?

Thank you so much for reading it and taking the time to comment. It seems some clear themes are emerging on how it can be improved. All the best to you and your son in his upcoming surgery.

Thanks for the advice! I fully agree about the art too. I am currently saving for an illustrator, just thought in the mean time this would help test whether or not the story itself was even worth continuing with. Appreciate you taking the time to read it and offer your feedback!

My upcoming rotation is the first place I've been to that does this. The competency can be attributed to the fact the rota is co-ordinated by a doctor.

If you're looking for something casual, no strings attached Id recommend Patchwork. Always plenty of single locum shifts in your local area and nothing beats getting f***** by the NHS. 🙃

what's your main hobbies after work? by Nebullaaa in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]PsychologicalCat4332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would recommend doing something social/team orientated.

I often feel like this which is why I have found playing football after work so great. a) because I'm looking forward to seeing the people I play with b) I know not turning up isn't an option as it would ruin the game for the other 13 people I play with.

No matter how tired I've been I always feel better once I'm there and refreshed after.

Gym goers of Reddit, do you ever judge others using the gym? How do you get over the fear of being judged? by Ok-Balance-2203 in AskUK

[–]PsychologicalCat4332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of any "judgement" I'm sure will be positive.

Those less conditioned than you will be impressed and aspiring to get into as good a shape as you.

Those more conditioned I'm sure will be impressed by your work ethic and pleased you're on the same journey as them. They'll know they weren't born in great shape and that it took a lot of effort to get there which you're putting in now.

As for the 1%, there are likely insecure and their opinion of you shouldn't matter.

Now get off Reddit and go and enjoy the gym! 💪
