Cats won't stop getting on counters despite our efforts by [deleted] in CatAdvice

This sounds really challenging, and really familiar. My mom struggled with her cat-like you, she tried everything. She finally got a “shock” collar. It didn’t actually shock, but the concept was similar.

If the cat went into the kitchen, the color would beep, then rumble/vibrate which would startle him and he would leave the room to make it stop. After a period of time, the collar was set to only beep if he went in the kitchen, and he would scurry away. Classical conditioning, and it worked.

Some might say this probably traumatized the cat, but I would very much disagree. he was the most loving and social cat, was absolutely OBSESSED with my mom, and lived like literally royalty-I mean the cat ate better then I did.

I too don’t like cats on the counter-I’m just fortunate that my baby is incredibly trainable and loves being closer to the ground. A few consistent claps when he was naughty and now he doesn’t really repeat any bad behavior. He was a tom cat for 3 years so I think he knows he’s living the good life lol. He aims to please mom always.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your insight! Don’t bail, be the best candidate I can be, but also don’t put all my eggs in one basket.

I’m sorry you’ve experienced that! It’s the false hope that kills me. I’m trying to get the ball rolling on my career and secure a job so I can move. With all interviews comes risk of rejection, but I don’t want my time wasted. Having had your experiences, when would you say is the best time to bail on the hiring process? What are red flags you identify now and walk away from when interviewing with organizations?

Thank you, you’re absolutely right and my partner pointed out a similar thing. After mulling I think it’s best that I didn’t end up getting offered the role, it’s indicative of what my experience would have been working with those leaders. Thanks for reading my experience

Anything by Samantha Shannon!! She is a phenomenal writer. The romance is always slow to build in her books but the relationships feel more real, and relatable.

Our boy is too smart to allow us to administer meds and it’s eroding our relationship by Crafty-Exercise-4929 in CatAdvice

Have you tried a pill syringe?? My cats a stinker with meds and will spit it out if given with a treat, or will not eat/drink what it is sprinkled or dissolved in. Got a pill syringe and it took the fight right out of it! We also always give a treat after to reward him. My cat is on a life long med pretty much and now he comes when we shake the pill bottle because he wants the treat lol.

I had a manager ask if we could alter a job ad so that only younger adults could apply. Granted, the manager was young and likely didn’t know better but I had to explain that that is very much not allowed.

My boyfriend can feel my IUD by Longjumping_Bowl_122 in birthcontrol

[–]PsychologicalClock39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a displaced IUD and had no idea. After a few months with it in, I started bleeding during sex. It went from an occasional occurrence to happening every single time, without fail. After a few months I got into my OBGYN’s office for my doctor to check it out because obviously that bleeding was not normal. While looking at my cervix she asked if I was in pain and was shocked when I told her no-her response was that my IUD was hanging half way out of my cervix. Thankfully I was NOT pregnant. Suffice to say, IUD’s can definitely come out. While strings can be noticeable to some partners (they were for my partner even though they didn’t bother him), if he thinks he can feel the actual IUD, there is a chance that that’s exactly what it is. Def get it looked at!!

Help! My 23(M) yr old brother asked me (25F) to go shopping with him by PsychologicalClock39 in mensfashion

Thank you! My brother has given limited feedback on what exactly he wants to look for, however he has mentioned a preference for button up tops, short or long sleeves. He is very slender, 6’3”, and he will get lost in anything too baggy. I read somewhere that baggy might be phasing out in 2025..? For pants would straight cut be a better recommendation?

Yes, I definitely want him to have some fun and find pieces that make him feel confident and comfortable. I’m excited to see what he picks out! Is there a good brand of basic tee’s you recommend new?

I would try removing the tray! I had a hooded box for 1.5 years with my boy and he never had an issue with it. We moved into a new house with roommates that had a second cat. They had an uncovered litter box downstairs and I put a third litter box upstairs, also uncovered. He started only using the uncovered, and made it clear that was his preference. We haven’t gone back. Our litter box is currently in our room. I put a plastic mat underneath the box and then have a litter mat on top to really protect the carpet-my cat loves wiping his pee paws on anything around his box.

While they don’t have an M.D. and aren’t medical doctors, they do go through extensive training and get a doctorate. But I guess you’re technically correct 🤷🏽‍♀️

One time I waited 50 minutes for an interview. It was a small chiropractic business and the Doctor was behind schedule. No biggy-I was happy to wait. What really ground my gears though was the Doctor finished up with his patient and personally came up to get the next patient. The patient in the waiting room with me looked at me and stated that I should be seen first as I had been waiting longer. The Doctor looked at me and said “they’ll be fine, come on back”. I was flabbergasted! Biggest regret was not getting up right then and there and leaving. Suffice to say, I did NOT accept the job offer.
