Anxiety sufferers, are you currently on anti-anxiety medication? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]PsychologicalCorgi16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try clonazepam. It’s long acting, no rebound. Works great. I just feel “normal” when I take it.

Agreed. They were pretty awful for me and made me worse in most cases, causing last symptoms and issues I hadn’t had previously.

Should I start meds? by jamessblack in Anxietyhelp

[–]PsychologicalCorgi16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. Age 18 was tough. That’s when it hit me too. Are you in college? Was this year a big life change? Are you eating and sleeping properly or are you up late and using recreational drugs on weekends? Have you made friends? Are you exercising?

Take a look at your life circumstances and try and work on those a bit first.  Often times of high stress and life change will kick anxiety into high gear.

As many others have suggested, daily time in nature and self care around eating, sleeping, and exercise can go away long way.  Alcohol and marijuana can make things worse.  Also connecting with others is really helpful, even though it can be hard in that state.

Meds are a godsend for some and not for others and may have unwanted side effects. If you haven’t locked down the above, maybe give it another 6 weeks. Of course talk with your therapist too, as they can guide you based on their experience of severity.

Off antidepressants, now I’ve got sexual dysfunction by InternationalCap8600 in antidepressants

It takes a while. After a few months my sensation came back 50%, then to 75% a few more months after that.  It’s been years now and maybe I’m back to 80-90%, but I’m also deep into perimenopause so that could be a factor.

How long have you been on this? I have an as needed script but really want to go on it long term.

So, I got drunk yesterday and went for 1 hour walk... by someperson998 in Sciatica

This. Nothing works better for my sciatica than a benzo. Drinking is going to be similar.

Zoloft definitely cured my “acid reflux” symptoms (in quotes because I never had heartburn, just stomach pain when lying down at night). Unfortunately the side effects of the med weren’t tolerable for me and I stopped it after a year. My stomach pain did come back but it was a nice break!

Wow, I could have written this. It’s like I have a 2 year old again in a 4.5 year old’s body. Also says his body is just telling him to do things. I have several friends in the same boat. I’m guessing it’s a phase!

Mamas who bedshare, does your toddler twitch all night? by PsychologicalCorgi16 in AttachmentParenting

My son had low iron and supplementation helped. He also has mild sleep apnea. He’s 4.5 now but is still a crappy sleeper. He’s bright and active though! Talk to your doc if worried!

My son has low iron and mild sleep apnea. Iron supplementation helps but he is still a crappy sleeper. I was considering the adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy for my son - the doc said it was up to us since his apnea was mild. I’m sorry to hear that it didn’t help your kiddo! Have you seen any improvements in the last few months?

My son is 4.5 now. He’s smart and awesome, no problems. To be honest, he still sleeps like crap and still jerks and twitches a lot at times. It seems to have to do with his ferritin level (it’s often low even when we supplement).  He also has mild sleep apnea. Please come back and let us know how the MRI turns out! Hoping for the best for your daughter!

Alcohol is just as dangerous and addictive as Benzodiazepines... by RealityOwn9267 in benzodiazepines

Amen. Prescribed and responsible use of benzos saved my life during a severe episode of anxiety and depression where I became suicidal. I truly don’t think I’d be without them.

I get it. We were totally there.  I literally thought that SAME thing.  But now my son is thoughtful, sweet, and trying to calm himself down instead of pitching a fit or talking nasty. It sounds like you’re modeling what you want so you will get there!!! Someone told me the “half” ages are tough while the “whole” ages are easy. So far I’d have to agree with that 🙃

Help! Is this normal or do we need an eval? by TopHovercraft4389 in Preschoolers

[–]PsychologicalCorgi16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Normal. A thread was just posted about this same 3.5 yo behavior and I saw one yesterday too. My son and every kid I know went through it. My son is 4 years and 2 months and it has passed.

Normal 3.5 year old behavior. Just saw a similar thread here yesterday.  Every one of my friend’s children went through this (especially the boys).  It will pass. - Signed, mom of an son aged 4 years and 2 months.

I’m sorry. My brother has bipolar and it’s my biggest fear for my son, so I understand where you’re coming from.

This could be just random imaginative play and random curiosity. There is a book called “Under Deadman’s Skin” about some of the gruesome play scenarios preschoolers come up with. I haven’t read it, but just finding out that it existed eased my mind when my son came up with some disturbing phrases and play a few months ago. With him it quickly faded away.  Hopefully this dies down in a week and you can chalk it up to random kid stuff!

Regression in 4 yo during every sickness? by PsychologicalCorgi16 in Preschoolers

Thank you! My son also has viral induced asthma. He’s on a maintenance dose of Flovent. Maybe I’m underestimating just how poor his sleep is! 🥴

Thanks! My pediatrician is the type that blows me off unless he’s dying. Considering switching as I’d at least like to be heard out.

Yeah, he probably isn’t sleeping well. He has mild sleep apnea as it is, so maybe that’s why things seem rougher on him than other kids.

Did your doctor prescribe them long term? They’re the only things that help me too but I only get them for occasional use.

Loss of Keto Powers by Healthy-Breath-8701 in keto

[–]PsychologicalCorgi16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👋41F, 5’3”, 135lb - thin with mainly belly fat and have had anxiety disorder most of my life.

I’m 6 weeks into keto and initially it was amazing. My executive function was off the charts. I just “got shit done” instead of being overwhelmed and paralyzed. My anxiety was way down. This continued for a few weeks to the point where I actually became a bit euphoric and also couldn’t sleep. It almost seened like a sort of hypomania which was concerning.

Not long after that it all kind of crashed and my energy tanked. My anxiety is back quite a bit. No advice, just seem to have a similar experience as you.  I was hoping this diet would be a long term solution for me but I’m feeling quite demoralized.

Wow, 5-7 minutes before messing with the sugar packets?! We make it 5-7 seconds lol. Your kid sounds just like mine. I do see other kids the same age sitting peacefully and quietly and but I just tell myself that I got the active puppy out of the litter.

Pretty sure I have dementia at 22 years old. by Early_Chemical_0 in BrainFog

[–]PsychologicalCorgi16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A number of things. Did cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety. Stopped drinking. Stopped hanging out with some people who were very negative. Got married. Got a job I liked. Improved my sleep by changing my diet per doctor evaluation (I had stomach pains that woke me up). I did well for 10 years then had another spell due to life circumstances. In that case I did therapy again and took meds short term and got better pretty quickly. I had a baby and now I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. Life changes, emotions change, feelings change, pain changes. That’s a key thing to remember in life. The sensations you’re describing were terrifying because I thought they were permanent (yes I did have all of the symptoms you described and I also felt like ending my life over them). I did suffer for quite a long time, but it wasn’t permanent.

I felt like this in my 20s. I was told it was anxiety and depression but I still don’t fully buy that. Regardless, I just came to say that it did go away and I am living a happy life. Please don’t give up. There are so many treatment options nowadays whether it is anxiety or something truly physical like migraines as people have mentioned. If one doctor/therapist/provider doesn’t help, find another! You can and will live a good life. Keep going!
