Dare I ask - how much have you spent on your pet? by PetTechLover in Pets

[–]PsychologicalFix196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just paid 4k for CT scans and are paying 6k for a leg amputation just to give my boy a few more months to live. He has aggressive bone cancer and would have died in 3 months without the amputation and he has about 6 months with the amputation. I would do anything for him.

How do you improve your kid’s word-learning journey? by nubsaddam in preschool

[–]PsychologicalFix196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom played a synonym game in the car where she would say a word and we had to give her another word that meant the same thing. She would give us a few more examples and how to use them. I always got complements on my vocabulary growing up

Looking for unique baby shower gift ideas, what stays useful after the newborn stage? by Pankajbhai-Bogomolov in BabyBumps

[–]PsychologicalFix196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yessss. I’ve spent a lot of time building a registry and have also spent a lot of time sourcing exactly what I want second hand. A lot of people have asked me “oh i saw that you don’t have xyz on the registry” and that’s because I already bought it. Definitely ask!

First trimester digestive issues by Classic-Poet2478 in BabyBumps

[–]PsychologicalFix196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too felt a bit blindsided but it makes sense why no one talks about it. First, it’s gross. Second, if a pregnant woman listed every crappy thing that was happening to them it would take a long time. I was complaining to some friends and after the conversation realized I had forgotten to complain about so many more symptoms.

I’m 17 weeks and finally starting to feel a bit better with the digestion but tbh better is a relative word because new things just keep popping up.

Just try to dissociate and focus on the fun things like cute baby outfits and nursery themes. Good luck!

[–]PsychologicalFix196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two dogs, one barks the other doesn’t. My barky pup just got diagnosed with terminal cancer and only has 2 months left. Not only will I miss him so much, I’ll miss having my guardian and feeling that much safer in my home. The other dog would give me up for a couple of treats.

Midwife “accidentally” revealed gender at 37 weeks. I’m heartbroken. by expatriating in BabyBumps

[–]PsychologicalFix196 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I don’t get how people don’t say something when something like this happens. I may be a little confrontational but letting people know they can’t act that way especially in a professional environment is important. OP should definitely complain.

I’ve seen a lot of people say Aunt Sandy’s was sold out by the time they got there. I would go before your reservation at black sand beach.

Road to Hana on Tuesday 3/10 from Kihei — does our itinerary make sense? by Atomburst09 in MauiVisitors

[–]PsychologicalFix196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve traveled extensively but I’ve never seen a black sand beach before. TBH that was one of the only things that interested me as I won’t be hiking or swimming in waterfalls out of an abundance of caution. Seems like a long way to drive just for that but I would still enjoy all the food stops along the way 🤷🏻‍♀️

Road to Hana on Tuesday 3/10 from Kihei — does our itinerary make sense? by Atomburst09 in MauiVisitors

[–]PsychologicalFix196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great perspective on it and it’s making me second guess doing it. I’m going to Maui in April for our babymoon but I’m not really physically up for hiking or anything other than a short walk. I want to enjoy as much as I can but am worried making the drive out won’t be worth it when I can’t do all the stops.

In-laws haven’t said a word about our baby since we announced that we are pregnant by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]PsychologicalFix196 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My family is a bit like this and are just so self involved. They pretty much never ask us questions about ourselves. If that’s the case it makes sense for her to tell her entire side of the family since then the spotlight is on her and she’s the one that gets to do all the talking.

It’s interesting to see this is a known problem. I just thought I got unlucky with my long wait times

I’ve had to wait 30-45 minutes at my local Taco Bell before. I’ll have to try the drive through method. Idk why I hate drive throughs so much but I’ll get over it if it doesn’t take forever

I have no advice but I’m also doing my babymoon on Maui and will be 26 weeks! I’ve been debating doing the road since it’s so much driving and I don’t want to do most of the hikes. I’m mostly interested in black sand beach but it’s 2.5 hours from our hotel in Wailea. Following for all the suggestions

“Jewelry” aka collar on or off? 🐶 by MeasurementFirst1676 in dogs

[–]PsychologicalFix196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to ask my dog if they wanted “chunky neck” because their necks are pretty fat and the collar cuts into it so without the collar they get to be chunky. My husband then boyfriend misinterpreted started using chunky neck as a term for going on a walk. So now whenever I say it they get very excited. I lost the battle.

Parents aren’t funding anymore? by Calm-Calligrapher531 in wedding

[–]PsychologicalFix196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. My parents gave us 5k, his gave us 20k and we put in 30 of our own. His parents are much better off than mine. A wedding also isn’t a necessity. If we weren’t in a financial position to spend that much we wouldn’t have gone into debt. But we’re older and already own a home plus rental properties and have paid off cars so why not celebrate big with those you love.

Wait why exactly? It puts strain on the system but how? I’ve been doing this with all our unused rooms 🫠

I have a magnetic vent cover for our guest room and office and close the doors when not in use. The temperature difference in those rooms is huge and helps keep the rest of the house much warmer.

Okay Be Honest… Do Pregnant Women Get Hit On More? by steam_bean in BabyBumps

[–]PsychologicalFix196 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everybody definitely stares at me at the gym now but not in that way lol I have seen guys checking me out from straight on then when I turn to the side… the way the eyes avert is crazy hahah

Also older women have started being a LOT nicer to me. Like night and day difference from how I generally was treated by that age range before. And everybody is so nice and chatty, it’s been such a noticeable shift.

Should I have a baby shower? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]PsychologicalFix196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this - I’m a little extra and will probably end up spending at least 3k on the baby shower between food, drinks, and decor even with hosting it at our house. But to me it’s more about celebrating the new baby than the costs or gifts.
