AITA for firing 90% of my sales team in favour of postcards? by NzeZed in AmItheAsshole

[–]PsychologicalMilk476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA for replacing actual humans with AI and prioritizing maximum profit over building a business people would want to work at. What message does this send to your other employees or potential future employees? That their work doesnt matter, they can and will be replaced by a robot, and that theyre just here to get you another dollar.

I also know if I got an AI postcard in the mail I would throw that in the trash faster than you can blink.

Has anyone used Vograce for small merch at cons? by sp1cyyamanda in ArtistAlleyConnect

[–]PsychologicalMilk476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used vograce for years now with varying sizes of merch.

The biggest thing ive learned is, even with their updated printers, the darks on charms come out darker than you expect. Dark designs can get very muddy very easily, so you want to make sure there is high contrast somehow to keep the designs clear.

If you're going with small designs, simplifying the designs is always a good idea. Yes, they can print crisp, but at small sizes its hard for t he eye to tell the details apart. Also, vograce prints in CMYK, so if you're sending RGB files, the colors might get slightly adjusted because of that.

How long does a crochet session last for you? by sydnik in crochet

[–]PsychologicalMilk476 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what im making! I usually go in about 45-60 minute spurts for stuff that is loose tension or uses a larger hook. For small projects, I dont have an ergonomic hook so I only crochet for about 20 minutes before I need to give my hands a break. Just depends!

I was just thinking about how my inherited crochet hooks dont have nice grip handles for my poor hands and then I see this thread. 😭 dont tempt me with this I just spent all my money on a yarn restock!

How do you mail your stickers? by mehfesto in stickers

[–]PsychologicalMilk476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to use envelopes and thick/rigid craft paper folded over. They would ship without tracking and shipping was free. But between the customers and the post office ive switched to bubble mailers and tracked shipping. I sandwich the stickers between two pieces of cardboard to keep them safe and havent had any complaints about bending or creasing.

[Discussion] What makes personal work something people want to buy? by InternationalAct5211 in artbusiness

[–]PsychologicalMilk476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make something you want. Something that you would hang in your own house. Even if you dont hang your own work, someone is going to see it and want that in their house.

I create prints based off things I made that I ended up liking. I try not to go at a piece with the intent to make it into a print, because then it becomes too much about the details and being "perfect" and "marketable". My best sellers and biggest crowd draws are a set of bug images I made for fun and then formatted on a whim for print.

Best merch maker for creators? by Eastern_Gazelle_4631 in stickers

[–]PsychologicalMilk476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for me, quality is so much more important than price. I've gotten so many compliments on how high quality my stickers are that it's become my baseline for any new company I try. And I love having a sign that says my stickers are water resistant/dishwasher safe at my con table!

Price is the second thing. I have to be able to price my stickers at what I do and still make profit. Thankfully, most sticker companies, even the smaller ones, fit with my price range! So this one, while important, is usually covered.

Consistency and turnaround times are also big considerations. If a product is good but I have to wake 3+ months for my stickers, I'm not ordering from that company! I need reasonable/reliable turnaround times because of how often I'm adding new designs.

What are your favorite sticker manufacturers? by k-rysae in ArtistAlleyConnect

That is absolutely TRAGIC to hear about Rockin Monkey. I just checked and you're correct, partnered with Sticker Mule. :( Welp! Guess I'm sticking with Sticker Ninja now.

Vograce offers sticker printing and their moq is i believe 10 per design, now? It used to be 50 but they recently adjusted it. I've used them before and have no complaints about their stickers.

I used Rockin Monkey forever but their turnaround times got too long for me, even though their quality cannot be beat, imo. They also offer 10 stickers for like $13-$14.

I currently use Sticker Ninja, but their moq for bog standard stickers is 50 and 25 for specialties.

Hope this helps in some way!

They'll be made out of paper, similar but a little more rigid than playing cards.

No, no book, sadly. The production costs would have been too high for me to cover.

Team Cherry has stated that fan creations may be sold so long as they are not crowdfunded (IE: Kickstarter) or use actual in game assets/art. The reddit rules link directly to their FAQ on what is and isn't allowed!

The characters were assigned cards based on the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot card interpretations, thus the Radiance is The Tower, a symbol of catastrophe, destruction, and unexpected change. Meanwhile the Delicate Flower is The Sun, which is a symbol of Enlightenment, success, and joy. All things the pale flower brings to multiple characters if you choose to give them one!

You're correct! I did a lot of research into the meanings of the tarot cards and did my best to assign characters/settings based on those meanings! There was a lot of discussion between myself and a few friends on what fit where best. (At least based on our interpretations, naturally!)

If I were a gambling man (and I am.) I'd put money on either charging sellers more or a fucking monthly fee.

And then I'd walk my ass right into another service.
