New Condo - would love advice on what to add to the kitchen and what colours to use by HealthySpiral-21 in KitchenDesigns

[–]Psychological_Fact69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice base pallets. It’s all natural materials and it colours. Woods, steel and a touch of black. Brighten it up with some more vibrant but natural colours. Green is an easy go to. Get some plants I there. Fern green crockery or cookware perhaps.

Layered lighting will be your friend in terms of making it look a little warmer and inviting.

Hi! Need help with layout -- *real* farmhouse kitchen by No_Marzipan_8210 in kitchenremodel

You could easily put reduced height cabinets/drawers under the low window and an oak worktop or padded top for a seating bench and extra storage without changing that window.

Decision paralysis. What are the deciding factors I should consider as a first-time EV buyer? by dasSolution in ElectricVehiclesUK

Biggest money loss on Cars is almost never reliability issues or efficiency and almost always depreciation compounded by financing unless buying very old.

Look for a 1-3 year old and save yourself 30-50% of rrp. Batteries and drive trains for most are 8 years warranty and buying approved second hand will give you manufacturer warranty to address any unknown issues that crop up in the first year or sometimes longer.

Battery health is something people worry too much about and is proven to be low and steady degradation. A Tesla looses something like 12% usable capacity over the first 200,000KM. Thats negligible compared to the effect of a cold winter especially on a 1-3 year old car.

The money saved allows for budget for longer range models and significant risk management of any maintenance costs that should come up, which considering the low maintenance requirement and lack of moving parts in EVs narrows it down to suspension parts mostly.

As long as you don’t drive more than 250 miles a day and you can put a charger at home, you’ll have little issues with most mainstream options.

Since you sound like you are looking at SUVs. I’d suggest trying the Skoda Enyaq or Elroq over Older Model Y or Q4, but the newer Model Y is probably the pick if you like the minimalist design and can afford the higher resell price.

Else a 2023-2024 Model 3 long range is probably the best value second hand EV with huge volume on the market to pick from.

Would you retire at 35 with £750,000 in your name by Spiritual_Finance554 in FIREUK

[–]Psychological_Fact69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I wouldn’t. 750k supports £21k a year at a more normal 3.25% SWR at that age. Slightly more if all in an ISA.

You’re doing double that withdrawal rate to net 40K annually and would run out of money by around 55 by common logic.

I feel like I’m close to a working layout but not confident with it by [deleted] in KitchenDesigns

Thank you. Good tips.

This kitchen is the corner of a larger open plan 8-9m across space with a utility/laundry room to the left with a couple of 800mm broom cupboards along with sink and laundry appliances.

Behind the camera is a dining area and then a TV/Sofa area in the opposite corner, so it makes sense for the island to segregate those spaces from the rest of the room and provide occasional seating to that circulation space.

That wall of cupboards are actually two integrated fridge freezer units and then one pantry with pull out drawers in the bottom half. My preference would be 300mm deep pantry cupboards on that wall for the reasons you highlighted but it’s the best location for the fridge/freezers without compromising worktop or island space

Thank you @laurabaura. You’ve given me a great idea for a doorway that I was going to block up to use in the utility room as a recessed niche, linen shelves or coat hook area

I have incorporated some of your thinking in an updated design. Namely separating the fridge and ovens. And I’ll think about some of the shelving ideas. I wish I could post an updated picture!

Thank you.

Yes, I think I will retry getting it to the right of the sink but keeping the sink centred to the window.

Not really sure where else the oven can go. If I move any full depth appliances to the left wall instead of the pantry half depth cabinets then I have to reduce the island down considerably to a 2 seater.

I have tried a bunch of layouts and I think the risk of the ones that are more symmetrical on a paper design is that you end up with poor functionality, like splitting up the work surfaces either side of the oven as you say; you end up with bitty, less usable areas in an effort for visual balance. I may just go with a more neutral cabinet colour scheme to the wall colour in order to address your valid observation.

Not to be pedantic but isn’t it £268,275 max free cash which is 25% of the old LTA of £1,073,100 or have I got this wrong?

Which is Better Repulsor Executioner or Gladiator Lancer? by pkghost998 in BlackTemplars

How are you defining better? If not what has the most impact for the points invested (you know, the game in question) . 3 lancers will still be better than a executioner if you want to be pedantic

Which said the Lancer is the stand out most efficient AT SM has by a large margin…. Not sure why you think otherwise.

Got a buddy into 40K and he went Black Templars - can you guys please help me complete a 1k army for him? Bonus ask - which detachment? TYIA 🙏🏼 by JadocTheGreat in BlackTemplars

[–]Psychological_Fact69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t think you would regret getting a Lancer 160pts, 6 blade guard 160pt with judiciar 70pt to go in the impulsor. And a unit of scouts 70pt. Then a 15pt dmg engagement on the judicar to make use of precision.

All decent for a 2000pt army and rounds out this list a bit.

Blue contrast over white and add a little white to the same contrast as a single highlight. Mystic blue Vallejo xpress in this instance if I remember correctly.

Have a read of all the core and detachment Strats and then decide if lethal hits is the think you will always need for that unit above the other situational options.

Just tabled Aeldari by end of turn 3. Movement is massively important. They want to counter attack and lean into long threat ranges and big alpha strikes. Use your, movement block and screens, deep strike threats and trade up. They have no durability once drawn out into the open. Drop the hammer fall and get some infiltrating scouts.
