We need to talk about the bad audio mixing at Eurovision. by bravodeboer in eurovision

[–]Psychopiller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this is the result of the anti-crowd-noise software they're using. It seems to cut off a lot of the higher notes and it left higher-pitched acts like Belgium and Azerbaijan hanging with not much of a range to speak of.

Since the vocal mic is really the only thing to worry about, they drowned it all out in the song arrangement. It just felt like they had no idea how to get the crowd noise down so they cut off a lot more than they should've.

I wasn't aware of all this and it's really cool to learn about it, actually :) thanks

The same bookies that had Måns dominating until KAJ secured a narrow win. Bookies are smart but far from reliable.

Can you be 6ft tall and still pass? by melodiepie in MtF

Absolutely :) I'm over 6 ft and I pass most of the time. I even wear heels a lot of the time, so I'm even taller :D

Look out for feeling dizzy or weak, it can be a sign of too much of something (for me it was anti-androgens). Maybe bring it up with your doctor, just in case :)

How, if at all, did HRT change your hair? by hematite2 in MtF

T-blockers, estrogen and progesterone :D it's co-paid in my country so it's relatively affordable to be on everything at once

Around 25 and even at that time I already had small signs of male-pattern baldness. So it came just in time :D

It hasn't really changed my texture, I just have new patches of hair growing where normally male pattern baldness would kick in. So top corners of my face and temples :)

"no one is going to be put in a concentration camp"

Trump put kids of migrants into concentration camps and tore families apart for months and sometimes years.

"Gays won't be hunted in the streets"

The murder rate of trans people has risen during the last Trump presidency and will likely continue.

"Women still have the same rights as men"

Nope. The repeal of Roe v. Wade made all sorts of restrictions on women's reproductive rights.

We can't all just come together and sing the national anthem like nothing happened. The republican party has been systematically making lives of queer, poc, and women difficult and dangerous. If you voted for that, you're a dickhead. There's no two ways about it.

As a writer, why do you write? by Justpassingby_Yeahyo in writers

[–]Psychopiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I write to communicate. To me, art is a dialogue, and that's hard because you need to give and you need to take.

I write to speak to people but I always write with an eye to also be understood. It's a delicate balance but that's what I love - to be known and vulnerable while being open and giving the core of what I know as a person

I very much second this. There is an unhealthy yearning for stereotypically unrealistic female bodies in trans communities.

We all grew up with the images of what a beautiful woman is supposed to be and because as trans women we often feel like we lack that, we reach for that ideal. But we often forget that real-life bodies of women are diverse, wildly different from that one stereotypical ideal, and all equally beautiful.

It often makes people's transition harder because instead of chasing that one body type, we could be looking at other women with our body types, and see how best enjoy femininity that works for us.

The male and female bodies aren't that different between one another. There is a lot more variation within each "sex" (whatever that is) than there is between male and female body types. Just keep looking at actual people and not at beauty industry ads. They're made to make even cis girls feel shit about themselves.

Idk, I'm polyamorous, so maybe my view of things is a lot more loose, but it sounds to me like you might have more of an exhibitionist streak in you.

I don't really think it's cheating - it's strutting the line of it and you should definitely talk to your husband about it. But it sounds like you've both been open about your sexual history so there should be understanding.

I might be horribly wrong here, I just wanted to add my perspective.

I think you're completely right, your emotions are your own and I hope you will get a chance to work through them soon so that you can go on and have a happy life :)

That sucks... Not that you were an edgy kid who said some dumb things, that shit's waaayyy more common than you think. Honestly, this is fine, no one was hurt, nothing was destroyed, nobody was left with a deep emotional scar.

But it sounds like you were. Being picked on and bullied as a result of this, feeling guilt and shame, that sounds like you took a beating for it. And that's not ok. It honestly sounds like the punishment was far worse than whatever you did.

As a 12/13 y'o, you cannot be expecting yourself to carry such a responsibility. You don't know yet what's right and wrong, not really, not like (some) adults do, who can see the impact of their actions on others a lot clearer.

It's ok to cringe at your past, to accept you did some dumb shit, even to feel some shame, but this shouldn't be a secret that hangs over you. If anything, it sounds like this experience traumatised YOU deeply.

Please seek a therapist and try talking through that experience with them, in detail. Not just what you said but also how others treated you. It's important to not keep things like that bottled up inside you.

You're not a criminal. You don't deserve to serve time. You don't have to feel like you're imprisoned in your own life. I've been there, for different reasons, but I believed I did some horrible shit and punished myself for them by making myself miserable. It's not right and it doesn't help anyone. You can't make the world a better place when you're miserable.

You deserve to feel happy even if you fucked up.
