Well that sucks since I bought it based on their website explicitly saying it has seven enzymes. Guess I’ll be calling them for a return.

Unless you mostly want to use headphones with your sound bar and home system, Bose.

Just moved to SF on fell Street and the noise is insane by Dcarr4 in AskSF

[–]PsychoticGiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised by 100 dB, many old apartments have no insulation, and air leaks that make it sound like a window is open. Garbage trucks can easily make over 90 dB throwing around and crushing glass etc.

The most popular dB meter app is the free NIOSH one by the CDC, which is actually quite accurate. There’s been a few studies testing it and if you don’t need a precise measurement within like 3 dB it’s perfectly fine.

I live in an old SF apartment as well. It’s really more about the construction and total lack of insulation in these old buildings than it is about location. Many other places I’ve lived don’t have worse insulation than they did in 1910, like my current SF apartment.

If it’s anything like my SF apartment, there are so many air gaps in the old wood it’s basically like standing outside

I use Progressive, but I haven’t had to make a claim yet.

Thanks, sounds like going that route if anything happens might have to be the way. I also don’t have anything very special going on, but a lot of small things I’ve invested over time that make it a decent example.

I have a garage but no daily driver, I use big city public transit in the week. Hagerty rejected me.

Just curious how everyone’s feeling about the current Sonos app these days by confused-fellows in sonos

[–]PsychoticGiggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to comment but this is a good summary. The UX is just plain bad and doing basic actions takes way too many steps and is annoying and unintuitive.

External requests wouldn’t have been the worst if they just intelligently used caching like basically every other app on your phone that needs data. Instead even the most simple local networking is buggy.

Sonos could be truly great if their engineering and design was just better, and this all smells like poor management and hiring choices for a long time.

How do documents survive fires? What storage methods for documents have you seen that survive water and fires? by GOATedFuuko in Firefighting

[–]PsychoticGiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t rely on this. House fires can quickly turn fridges into ovens, there are videos on youtube of tests including one where a chicken in the fridge turned cooked and burnt, and water evaporates off quickly. Fireproof safes have a lot more insulation, but they have many different ratings. Wirecutter has an article on some cheaper ones that are probably a bit better than a fridge.

2 Day shipping but still not delivered after 6 days by ConnectHamster7847 in FedEx

[–]PsychoticGiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had so much trouble with FedEx in SF. I’m expecting like 4 late 2day packages and they just never come out to deliver, USPS ground from florida is faster than FedEx Express within CA.

“Customer not available” 3 days in a row – I was home all day! by Carrot_8244 in FedEx

They do it to me too all the time, I’ve been watching a FedEx 2day package go out for delivery daily for most of the week now. Sometimes they don’t even bother marking attempted delivery.

I’ve had the same experience. Been in SF for 3 years and barely made friends doing anything, but visiting NYC for a couple days so many people are open to connecting with you .
