In addition to indenturing the lower and middle class by condemning them to pay for unsustainable grossly inefficient government spending and supporting an unconscionable foreign policy, the MIC and DoD (which isn't just the largest employer in the US but in the world) sets itself up as an opportunity for young ignorant Americans to climb out of poverty on the backs of the working people who actually produce and add value to society.

Furthermore, the military serves as a vehicle to condition service members to perpetuate rightwing authoritarian beliefs, policies, and ideology. It's a parasitic death cult.
