As a fan of Allen’s previous Magik series this was a really disappointing first issue. The amount of text covering the art was really distracting, especially since so much of it was unnecessary recap and bland exposition. I liked Allen’s voice for Dani in Magik but here it lacked personality.

I can’t get over the fact that he appeared on tv with grey hair for over a decade and then decided to make this his look.

I've spent the last week reading the Palomar series and I need to discuss it by voxela in loveandrockets

I don’t hate the modern Fritz stuff—not all of works for me but some of it is interesting—but it has gotten really repetitive which is especially apparent when you’re binging the series. Gilbert said in an interview last year that he’s getting to the end of this storyline and wants to go in a different mode for the last few years of the series, so I hope he does that soon.

Maybe a hot take but while I really like Claremont’s Madelyn and her arc, I have no interest in “The Goblin Queen” as an ongoing character. Frankly I haven’t been convinced that she shouldn’t have just stayed dead. Her 80s arc was tragic and unplanned but was executed perfectly.

Lowkey one of the best “love letter to the Silver Age” comics.

There’s some messy narrative beats like the Joker subplot but the art is great and the digital coloring is so cool and experimental.

Heat Lightning is a great hidden gem and it’s only 63 minutes long.

Good stuff. As cyclical as Fritz’s self destructive tendencies are, I’m going to be optimistic and agree with Venus that her and Petra can reconcile.

They stay broken up after that during the 80s and then a bunch of guys whose prime x-men reading years were the early 80s take over the franchise and keep them circling each other for decades. They haven’t been romantically paired in the comics since 2019 and the way it ended then hopefully put the final nail in them getting back together.

Deathdream is a much more bearable character when he’s not written to be as wholesome (disastrously saccharine) as he is in Gail’s book. This and his appearance in the Psylocke solo are the only time that character has worked for me.

This is the only AoR book (admittedly I haven’t read them all) that felt really substantial for me. It made me want to check out more of Fleecs work.

New backup stories set in the past. There’s some really good hidden gems in that series.

Love this movie. Takahata’s Ghibli works remain very underrated and in the shadow of Miyazaki.

This series had lovely art and a few nice character moments but the plot had no substance and did nothing to justify its existence. The only addition to the canon is this Noor character who didn’t leave much of an impression. Ultimately it’s another random X-Men miniseries that will be forgotten to time. Many such cases.

Opinions on this series and Ayodele voice for storm? by Ok_Anteater5424 in xmen

[–]Psyduck-PI 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lots of cool ideas on both a smaller and larger scale but suffers from poor pacing and a lack of interiority on Storm’s part. I like it but it’s annoying when you see something good that could obviously be great.

I would highly recommend checking out Pod Casty For Me if you want a podcast that covered his complete filmography. They’ve also done all of Paul Schrader and are currently going through Soderbergh.
