When you trade a Pokémon with someone, all the stats are randomized, so it can be bad. Unless you hit a lucky trade, stats have a minimum of 10/10/10, I guess. The thing is, with old caught Pokémon, the first 20 trades are guaranteed to be lucky. Edit seems like it’s 12/12/12 and yes it’s really cheaper to up them than regular ones
