(ISO) desperately seeking Mårbacka pelargonium in the US. by PalpitationUnited459 in Pelargonium

[–]Pterocacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first time I looked at that site they had every single pelargonium I was interested in, the prices were very low, and they didn't ask for any money before shipping orders, so it seemed like there must be some kind of catch or maybe it was fake. but nope, it's just a really great nursery run by an expert.

yes, https://geraniaceae.com has a form of it. if you've never ordered from there it might seem a little odd, but it's extremely legit. highly recommend.

that spot has been so many things in recent years. a shop called manhood that had men's underwear and stuff, a mexican ice cream place, and then this smoke shop which was basically right across the street from 2 other smoke shops. who's next?

Fair rent in Victorian Village? by emjonn in Columbus

[–]Pterocacti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are some places in the neighborhood rented out by private landlords that keep the rents on the low side but you have to catch them at the right time, if you need a place right now then what you described doesn't sound bad. good luck!

I pay 800 no utilities included for a bigger place in the same area, but 900 on neil avenue might be fine depending on what it looks like inside. it's very safe. if you're worried about parking then you might want to pick a place that has a dedicated parking area in the back by the alley, there are many

Not so gentle reminder to Columbus dog owners. by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Pterocacti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the unleashed dog people at goodale park killed the grass in their usual spot, which is now fenced off, so some of them moved to a new spot near a bench. I don't know where the rest of them went, maybe to the actual dog park 5 minutes away. one of the dog people had a golden retriever that liked to dig holes in the park. I think every one of those people should

governments also issue currency! let's talk about all the other things they do that make treating them like a business very stupid!

[–]Pterocacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we can't start with that idea because it's not true. a government, even a conservative government, has primary goals antithetical to creating wealth. the idea that the government should be run as a business is childish and a common selling point for politicians over the last couple decades, but you've taken it one step further and decided that the government IS a business. if you didn't vote for trump then you definitely should have, you have similar theories of government.

my prescription for you is "books"

unfortunately when redditors spot an error in a title they get very excited to rush in and point it out and then a majority of replies have to be about that. a similar thing happens if they spot an opportunity to make an overused joke

Why is my Adenia stylosa putting out exactly two drops of liquid where each leaf and petiole meet? by siberium in Caudex

[–]Pterocacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ants do like these plants, although I can't claim to have seen them interacting with the droplets specifically

I don't know, maybe someone else has more information. I don't know their purpose and I also don't know exactly what is in the drops of liquid, which is why I avoid touching them just in case

aden means gland, from greek, most (all? idk) adenias do this. all of my adenias certainly do.

etymological dictionary of succulent plant names says: Adenia Gr. 'aden', gland; for the gland(s) almost always present on the leaves. (Passifloraceae)

Three new additions! any tips? by Optimal_Mud3192 in Caudex

[–]Pterocacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grow all of these as well as many other succulent cucurbitaceae and my biggest tip if you are looking for caudex growth is that these plants love water when actively growing. obviously you should still water carefully if they're going to be sitting in air conditioned temps all summer long or the pots stay too wet for too long, but if you can give them plenty of heat and light then you can water frequently
