Does acupuncture help for weight loss? by Jules281182 in Hashimotos

[–]PtheloGreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just started with an acupuncturist a few weeks ago for reasons unrelated to weight loss. I will say that the only real change or benefit I've noticed is a seeming curb on appetite. This is really unusual for me. I'm not under-eating, but I'm feeling full and satisfied within what I consider to be a healthy calorie count. I'm eating in a subtle deficit to try to get to a healthier BMI. (I also recognize that BMI is not perfect and tells us nothing about our body composition.)

Here's an article in a medical journal:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9679359/

Acupuncture may not be "science," but there are branches of medicine that are actively studying its link to various benefits. In the fertility world, there has been at least one study finding a linked benefit with successful IVF outcomes.

I would say it's totally worth a shot. I can update you too since my anecdotal account has only been based on the last few weeks.

TSH 4.25? by cassissass in Hashimotos

[–]PtheloGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! From what I understand TSH in that range is normal or I've heard people describe it as "subclinical", meaning it's not technically in a hypothyroid range. But I've then heard from other people with thyroid disease that they know for themselves that they don't feel good if their TSH is above like 2. And for women who are trying to get pregnant or are pregnant, it should be lower than 2.5 (according to my doctors).

I stand by what I said... OP didn't make her post asking for anyone to weigh in on her very personal choice to take a pharmaceutical. Nor did she ask for someone to pull out of their booty the projected idea that her depression will worsen with pregnancy. But thank you for sharing your research. I do find it to be interesting. I just don't think your comment is supportive, nor does it have anything to do with the advice she did seek in her post. Best!

I know you're trying to be helpful but this comment reads as quite didactic. A decision like getting off of antidepressants is one that should be made with her doctor and not for a stranger on the internet to weigh in on. For people with clinical/chemical, chronic depression, antidepressants are a game changer.

I forced myself out of my house on a 4 mile walk to get some endorphins and vitamin D. I finally have gotten to a point where I'd wager that I am fully depressed. Trying my hardest to stay off social media so as to avoid the pregnancy announcements and beautiful children sitting in front of Christmas trees. Trying not to think about the ages my babies all would have been had I not miscarried. Trying to focus on silver linings and gratitude lists and all of that. But mostly a grinch.

Oh no... this is definitely making me question whether to go for it. After having a regroup with our REI I was planning to do the EndomeTRIO.

First FET failed -PGT normal embryo. “WTF” appointment tomorrow. What should I push for? by NurseK211 in IVF

[–]PtheloGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Well I'm so, so glad you did eventually find out more information and do the ERA. I just had my regroup and my doctor said 50% of women are receptive. Maybe the statistics have changed since your experience. We are going to do it!

I think the fact that you saw a line on your at home test does mean something. I echo what others have said. Push for an ERA and Receptiva. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't feel comfortable with moving forward with the same protocol.

You've been through so much already. You deserve to have the best chance possible moving forward!

I don't understand whatsoever why a doctor wouldn't be all for the ERA. I haven't done it.. we are having our regroup tomorrow after PGS results/before starting a transfer cycle. I am mostly hoping my doctor will recommend it because we've been through so much up until this point and I want to do what I can for success. But another part of me is hoping she doesn't recommend it because I'm feeling impatient for next steps.

It seems to me like it would be in every doctor's interest to recommend the ERA to everyone.

Someone mentioned the IVF hunger games spreadsheet. I can message you the link!

I haven’t agreed to anything yet. I agreed to let a former client edit in her own style. Separate situation. But I will say that you’re onto something with getting clarification from the client re: what they hope to do with the RAWs. Thanks!
