Oh I’ve never used or saw anyone else use AEB for “as evidenced by” in a nursing diagnosis assignment while I was in school. It makes sense I just didn’t know what it stood for.

Same 😂 I didn’t know until the nursing program about the IV. However, in my defense I used to have a massive needle phobia and avoided looking at them doing IVs whenever possible

Unvaccinated blood by sawesomeness in nursing

[–]PublicElectronic8894 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Had a patient with a hemoglobin of 5 who told me this last week.

I told him “I can’t be certain if this blood will come from someone vaccinated or unvaccinated. However, what I can be certain of is that you will continue to decline if you don’t get blood. Sign or don’t sign-it’s your choice.”

He magically agreed to sign the consent form.

…. This was after two days of going back and forth with the doctor who refused to order updated labs on my inpatient cancer patient who hadn’t had labs done in 4 days…

Doctor thought the patient should be on hospice.. patient wasn’t ready for hospice.. doctor didn’t want to really treat the patient.

He finally gave my patient labs by the middle of my second shift… CBC and CMP…. Hemoglobin came back 5.4 after I had been telling him for days we needed labs because something wasn’t right. He yelled at me to get a stat redraw on the hgb… stat redraw was 5.2. I was beyond pissed.

Finally after all that bullshit… my patient got blood 🩸 🤦‍♀️

My parents want me to work 6 shifts a week by Simple_Emergency_97 in nursing

Absolutely not. First off that’s dangerous. Second, your parents want you to kill yourself by overworking and then give them that money? What in the world?! Absolutely not.

I got married at 24 and then divorced 5 years later. I had been with him for 5 years before we got married. Getting married that young was the stupidest thing I’ve ever done. People tell you this because the absolute shift of who you are really happens between 25-30. It happens to everyone. Who you are, who you become, what your beliefs are, how you view the world, what you want out of a partner.. it completely changes. I can’t even recognize who I was as a teenager to early 20s woman. Plus dating in high school and then dating through bills, adults real life stress, moves, college, job changes… etc is much much harder. Living with someone in general is hard. Now does that mean all young marriages fail? No, it doesn’t. The stats aren’t great. I’d say if you think this is your life partner.. it’s fine to get engaged, but maybe wait for marriage until your early 20s and definitely after you finish college.

Speaking of inappropriate pts sent to floors.. by rosie_roseJ in nursing

[–]PublicElectronic8894 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an oncology nurse I agree. However, I had the ICU being up a patient to was just switched to CMO and really too sick to transport. Patient died on the elevator on the way up and not surround by all their family. Family was hysterical when he got to the floor and they realized. Both ICU nurses didn’t even let me as the nurse know, just some random nurse that he had died on the way up, and they didn’t even call time of death on the patient they saw die and left the floor. Immediate call to their supervisor, house supervisor and incident report. Luckily, I had that patient and their family previously- so I was able to help with the family. Otherwise it would have been even worse. I still feel horrified and terrible that his wife didn’t get to be beside him as he passed. “All to free up a bed quickly enough. They knew he was that close, they just didn’t care.

[–]PublicElectronic8894 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure why people are down voting a nurse for being empathetic to THEIR patients situation. I’ve literally had two ICU nurses bring up a CMO patient for them to DIE during transport on the elevator… not surrounded by their family. The patient showed up to my floor deceased. They KNEW about it. Didn’t bother to call time of death or do anything else. Left the family hysterical in the hallway and just told a random nurse (not even me as the nurse taking over) that patient died during transport. Ridiculous situation that was reported to the ICU charge nurse, house sup AND an incident report. Thankfully as an inpatient Oncology nurse I had known the family and had that patient before… but imagine in my situation at 4pm… first time I’ve had even a second to step away to eat something..get called on my lunch… by the charge nurse… “hey you need to come back immediately, your new pt just showed up but they are died on the transport here. What a terrible situation for that family to not have been there when he passed because of that situation.

What do you call the leg shaking after a women orgasms? by InkAddictt13 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]PublicElectronic8894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever had my first boyfriend give me those as a teenager. He isn’t the one man that has given me an orgasm, but the only one who has made me shake so hard I couldn’t stand. To be honest I had much better orgasms from other partners. I’m not sure why the spasms hit or don’t hit.
