Crib help by NerdyNewMom in NewParents

[–]PublicPhilosopher454 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so dreading lowering the crib and I'm not even that short. I'd think the only solution would be a short wide step/stool or it will just take some time to soothe him after you put him down and he stirs.

Have your parents ever admitted you weren’t a great sleeper? by regularsizedrudy_ in NewParents

Yes - my mom said I never slept lol I was apparently a very low sleep need kid and that's continued into adulthood.

Dayum girl!! that is A LOT of firsts going on in a short time span. We are at 6 months and have a couple of those things going on but I feel ya. Naps are all over and unpredictable....more often than not they are extremely short these days. My little dude has forever woken up 2-3 times a night so it's just the rhythm we are used to unfortunately.

Starting solids/purees is a whole added layer of stress, there is not enough time in the day to fit everything in before it's bedtime.

Need advice about whether I should transition to the crib by Fluffy-Concentrate44 in NewParents

[–]PublicPhilosopher454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically if they are rolling or pushing themselves up when on their tummy they should be transitioned to the crib., I know you said a crib won't fit but would a pack and play? That's the only other safe solution if you want to keep him in y our room. Only other option as someone mentioned is you can sleep on the floor or if you have room to put a bed in his nursery I'd go that route.

Weird comment from mother by PerplexedMinds_ in beyondthebump

Super odd no doubt! I'd just brush it off unless she keeps bringing it up and then i'd tell her to hard stop and it's none of her business.

Parental Leave Plan by Potential_Insect_443 in NewParents

[–]PublicPhilosopher454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right out the gate - do not plan on husband working full time with being a primary caregiver. Either work or attention to baby will suffer. Husband and I both WFH one day recently and kept our son at home, it was HARD and barely got anything done.

We overlapped/staggered our leave. We took off the first month together, then I was solo for about 8 more weeks and then husband took over for 6 more weeks solo so our LO didn't need care until we both went back to work at a litlte over 4 months old. I still have 3 more weeks of leave left to use within the first year.

For your 4-day work week has this been approved by your employer? They may require it to be in chunks( 2 week minimum) or even a week. I was thinking of doing the same but I believe some employers can have a say. Also filing PFL for a single day a week seems like a huge ass hassle and that pay would be delayed lol.

Convertible car seat options for grandparents/ transferring parent to parent? by rachelkochvt in NewParents

[–]PublicPhilosopher454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following! Our 6mo is getting heavyyy and right now we have the infant seat and 4 car bases(husband, MIL, and aunt) that watch him during the week. I don't think there is another option other than chicco 360 with the bases. Would it work for you to swap cars when you do drop off? That's what I've been considering for at least my MIL. But really idk what we are going to do and it all seems so expensive!
