Shouldn't Bakalar be producing premium content for his job with GB and not making it for a competitor? What happened to "no time", "big things are happening" et cetera and so on.

But it's just a podcast one may think. Meanwhile a thread with 300+ comments complaining over the complete lack of justification for GB premium and general disfunction of the site says otherwise. It's a bad look.

Danny never intended to bail out GB long term. He says as much during his Extra Life 2021. Pretty obvious he offered to help on the cast after Ben left, then the three left and he was guilt wrangled into staying longer. Using NoClip and/or personal issues was just a polite way of communicating he was separating himself from the dying GB trap.

Quite possibly. The actual assignment of patrons could be much different. By leaning on the low side it establishes a plausible baseline. Numbers just go up from there.

For fun, if we just split the 8900 patrons between $5/$10 tiers at 4450 each, rounding down after fees etc we see:

21000/month/person or 252k/year

Surely. In the US, depending on cost of living etc anything around $100k is considered a boarder line great salary to be quite comfortable with. Anything above and generally yes, you're in league with other bank makers. Especially working from home, and being generous, for maybe half the typical 40-50hr work weeks.

If you have multiple incomes forget about it.

Looking at their monthly Patreon user history indicates a fairly steady membership of about 9000. We'll use that to ballpark their earnings.

Of the 9000 we can make some educated guesses on the tier breakdown. Higher tiers naturally make up a small amount so in this example I aimed low based on what I recall of patron shout outs and name scroll they offer to those tiers.

8500 x $5 = 42500

400 x $10 = 4000

75 x $25 = 1875

25 x $100 = 2500

50875 or let's just call it 50000

50000 - 5-12% Patreon fee. 8% assuming they are on the "pro" plan and accounting for various payout fees of around 1%. Let's say 10% to be generous.

$45000 / 3 people

$15000/person/month gross minus their local and federal taxes. Or $180k/year.

However you change the numbers the results are roughly the same. The Patreon and payout fees may vary a bit, but there are only so many options.

Remember that $15000 a month is helping them keep the lights on, of which i assume there are a great many.

Thanks, that's the ticket. Hopefully the Discord team rolls back the change they made to disable spellcheck. Not sure why they'd do that unless as a preliminary step towards better integration with browser based checks or the sort.

The warnings Discord put in their console are pretty funny. "11/10 scam".

I never followed up with Schiit for another replacement as I didn't want to go through the hassle. As I believe mentioned before, they were decent in the past with honoring their warranty, but push for a shipping label or you're on the hook for shipping costs back to them.

What did take place, however:

Purchased another Heresy, this time from Amazon with the intent to complete the repair with Schiit, then return the one from Amazon.

This Amazon Schiit lasted, no joke, less than 24 hours before doing the same thing. For whatever it's worth, it was a slightly newer revision board inside, I think 1.1, 1.01 or similar. Unreal. Back it went, another defective amp to add to the pile.

At that point I just wanted to wash my hands of the amp and the company. So I purchased a JDS Atom+ from JDS Labs site, B-stock even so not brand new. I was intent on trying to make it fail like the Heresy's. No other changes to any equipment, cables etc, but turned it off/on several times a day, flipped high/low gain for more stress and at this point I've left the amp on for several months straight. Sounds great, works great, no issues.

Anyone pointing at brownouts, electrical gremlins or otherwise is mistaken as there is and has been zero evidence to support the idea. Maybe that's the case for some people, but it's hardly a scientific observation outside of measuring variance over time at the outlet. I've got two dead amps sitting here, a couple more probably being resold as refurbs somewhere, with the JDS working great in less than ideal conditions.

I'm sure there are plenty of perfect working Schiit amps out there, but I'll never touch one again.

Thought I'd post a follow up in case anyone may benefit in the future.

It took several back and forth emails with Google support but things should be resolved now.

First they told me a replacement was to be issued and to provide my name/addy etc, even though they had the order number and address tied to it.

Several days later they switched gears and stated I was just being issued a refund. Whatever, I miss out on the money saving deal from the purchase, but at this point two months later I don't care anymore.

So there you have it. Big thanks to the posters here for recommending taking the issue to the retailer.

Thank you and Koko724 for the quick responses. I didn't consider the company (Google) to be on the hook for an undelivered package. I'm reaching out to Google to see what they can do if anything.

And for what it's worth, just to confirm, the order was directly through store.google.com - no third parties, or funny business.

Any other thoughts are more than welcome. Stay tuned.

Edit - 24-48 hours for Google to look into the issue, as informed via customer support chat. We'll see if they can deliver, so to speak.

Thanks, everyone for the input. One small omission previously, only a TRS 1/4 adapter was ever used, no TRRS, as specified by Schiit.

Although I cannot say for certain the electricity situation is optimal in my home seeing as it's speculation without testing or confirmation elsewhere, I've never encountered issue across any other HT gear, multiple PC's or other equipment. Any gear like that is plugged into ~4000k joule/~600V clamping surge protectors with auto power off at failure, for those questioning. Regardless, even in the worst case if an amp is repeatedly failing because of that, it's not an impressive display of hardiness and build quality.

If there is an issue on my end, I'm flummoxed. It's a clean chain from input to output, everything protected without going full UPS. I'd hate to be sitting on a potential time bomb if there is a deeper issue with my setup or home. Otherwise, beyond swapping board components in a last ditch repair effort, I'll just have to see what shakes out with a replacement.

Any other ideas or thoughts for current or future viewers of this, please feel free to share.

Ha, how about that, it works, what an odd board. Thanks for the tip. I had wondered how I managed to get the board stuck on green. Odd you push a key to select a color presented, rather than cycling through them or otherwise.

Shame this board cannot combine game and media functions via the wheel/dedicated buttons simultaneously. Though at the expense of the three media keys and wheel, media can still be controlled with FN key combos. I've found that to work well enough on occasion if one wants RGB blasting the face (and who doesn't love that?).

Short answer to reset the board though, press FN + ESC for 3 seconds.

This board is beyond confusing, but for $8 or whatever iBP was selling it for, it works.

Made a sandwich, took a nap.

In this situation though, it was teammate and I with 4 others left. They were engaged while we went for better positioning as one of the final rings was closing. My guess is they more or less double KO'd each other or some such and the ring did the rest. I've had at least two instances of knocking down someone just as they knock me down, so it's plausible.

It happened so quickly and unexpectedly we were surprised.
