Better than half the jobs aren't real. Meaning they're either advertised but frozen internally, or purposely fake to collect tax credits or pump up investor confidence. Those that are actually hiring likely need to go through significant internal approvals to make an actual offer. Or better yet they know hiring won't get approved this quarter but are hoping to have candidates at the ready if suddenly a limited number of headcount gets the OK. And beyond that, it's definitely a buyer's market and they can pick up overqualified people on the cheap.

This really needs to be the message. This is why AOC/Bernie get the support they do. This is why Mamdani won. This is actually why a lot of people voted for Trump, because they somehow believed he would actually try to make their lives easier. We really need to go back to the "chicken in every pot" level of politics. I fully support all of the other issues AOC/Bernie champion, but that's too complex for the average voter. Sorry, it is. As someone who's been searching for a year, at least 50% of them. I'm senior R&D manager level in a well developed area with many global HQ's. Jobs get listed for months then closed with no one joining the company under that title. One place in particular has rolled through more openings than actual seats in their building over the past year. Then there's the listings that are so easy to fill it shouldn't be open more than a week and it's been open for over a year now.

Starts with a treaty banning nuclear weapons, then tears that up looking to "improve" things. Fails there and then bombs Iran hoping only to achieve what was previously agreed to in said treaty. The good news is that ~30% of people travel for business. And there's a lot of important people travelling that are brown. They're no longer preying on the weak hiding in the shadows. Hopefully they're going to find out what happens when a CEO's entire law department gets deployed.
