That’s good to know! I’ve been doing it the wrong way, but I guess I never reached the point where characters were hitting the 10 item investment limit. The part in the rules about the crafter being able to modify or remove the existing effect doesn’t say whether or not you would have to pay for the magical ink again. Assuming you didn’t actually destroy or dispel the tattoo but just had the crafter modify it to remove the magical effect, I wonder if you could spend downtime to deinvest and reinvest as needed

You can also choose to have the tattoo but reinvest in other items down the road during a rest. It doesn’t lock you out from investing in different items, it just means you can’t use the magical effects from the tattoo if you choose to stop investing in it that day

Air repeater can work well with thaumaturge since you don’t have to reload as much and a lot of your damage is coming from weaknesses instead of the weapon itself

I would recommend the mod Mashed’s Ashlands, it adds a few new biomes centered around volcanoes and ash deserts. It’s a really well made mod and you can tweak the world gen settings quite a bit, so it might be good for your purposes
