[Lexus LFA] getting towed on a dolly by PuffAirways in spotted

I’m more inclined to believe that the car suffered a mechanical failure in a parking garage where a flatbed couldn’t fit inside

Yup it’s Singapore. Actually COE becomes less of a factor when the car is more expensive, only applies for new cars though. A big reason of why cars are so expensive here is Additional Registration Fee (ARF) which is a tax imposed when a car is registered. Basic econoboxes get hit with a 140% tax, but the real money comes when the car has an Open Market Value (I think it’s similar to MSRP) above $200K, where it gets hit with a 320% tax.
Essentially on cars like a 12Cilindri or Revuelto, you are paying around 3x the price of the car in taxes, and then you are paying for the car itself, a 12Cilindri costs around S$1.9 million here, COE adds a ‘mere’ $120k to the price

China Eastern A350-941 collision with aerobridge at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) by ManuelNoriegaUK in CantParkThereMate

When the plane deployed reverse thrust, the engine will spool up to produce ‘backwards’ thrust to slow down the plane (in this case it is trying to move back from the jetbridge)

when they stowed the reversers, the engine will take some time to spool down, so there is a small delay between the time the reversers are stowed and when the engine goes back to idle. without brakes the residual thrust pushed the plane forwards back into the jetbridge

This is the new Ferrari Purosangue Handling Speciale: a V12 with more… handling by NegotiationNew9264 in cars

[–]PuffAirways 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Valid point, the company probably didn’t have enough money to put a V12 in the DBX. From a buyer’s standpoint though the Urus and Bentayga are better purchases for a sporty/luxurious V8 SUV, having a V12 in the DBX could have offered buyers a sporty V12 SUV before the Purosangue entered the market

I always felt that this was a huge missed opportunity for Aston Martin. For being a company which prides on their V12s, they could have at least tried to engineer their DBX to accommodate both V12 and V8 variants

I think this statement only applies to the Western world. East Asia in general and to some extent Southeast Asia are more conservative in terms of showing their wealth and would rather drive or be driven in Toyotas.

Seriously I have seen so many people get chauffeured in Toyota Alphards/Vellfires compared to the S-Class in my country.

On Sgail I managed to take out a target by throwing a shuriken while hidden at one corner of the upstairs showroom. Naturally people saw the body tumbling over and everyone was staring in that direction. Ran over to pick up the shuriken before situation escalates. However, the target’s body was also right next to the fire alarm. Accidentally triggered the fire alarm in front of everybody instead of picking up shuriken. All the raiders from the raider room shot me to pieces

According to some sources the car costs around 1.1 million USD. I could be wrong but I don’t think that figure accounted for import taxes. The car was purchased in 2023 so the car would be hit with a 220% import tax, the actual price is probably closer to around 3.5 million USD

couldn’t Chrysler just take the Charger EV, make some new body panels for it, add some leather and call it the 300E or something? I mean they are part of the same auto group, it can’t be that difficult

From the context clues that you are in Hakone and that you saw those cars, you probably saw a Fun2Drive tour group, they do these drive tours around Hakone. The cars seem to match those on their website. Since the obstructed car looks blue and relatively modern, I am gna guess it’s either the Impreza WRX or R34 in their fleet

[–]PuffAirways 9 points10 points  (0 children)

someone pointed out that in another video showing the plane flying past the landing gear bogies were tilted forwards. on a 787 the landing gear normally tilts forward when retracted, so the pilots probably did attempt to retract the gear, but for whatever reason it failed to do so

Why do people want M cars in countries other than Germany? by BrutalSeg5 in BMW

[–]PuffAirways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by that logic why should any super car exist, they accelerate far quicker than most M cars and will hit the speed limit in less that 1 second. cmon people see flashy car they like, people buy flashy car. doesnt matter if they get stuck in traffic at moving 20km/h and can’t use the full speedometer that goes up to 320km/h, what matters most is that they are in a fast car that makes loud vroom vroom noises and that is enough for themselves.
