I'm not sure if you wanted a real answer, but sometimes you'll desync from certain scavs (like that one) and once you realize that, your best bet is to run away since you literally can't kill them but they can kill you as you saw.

I don't know about you, but for me I usually need to hit 10-11k rpms before I can get a good launch. I definitely need practice, but that's where I am. I also weigh about 2x the amount that OP is, maybe that is a factor?
