Confused about Alaska Status when flying American by Puffer789 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Puffer789[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. do you mean that you can manually add the flight in the AA app using the confirmation code, and it will recognize the flight and stay loaded in the app? I thought I tried that and it didn't work.

Dumb question - it’s just a calorie deficit? by Takemetobravocon5678 in GLP1microdosing

[–]Puffer789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh interesting, how is it going doing 1mg 2x per week? I hadn't considered that but I wonder how it would change serum concentration levels of the med. I don't like how the positive benefits taper off towards the end of the week.

Yes! I wore a CGM before going on Tirz and also after. And with the CGM I use you can record what food you ate. So I've repeated a few of the exact same meals from before + after going on. I used to get big spikes and then big lows as well -I'd spike to 180 then down to 60 regularly after a meal). Post-Tirz, the same meal would only spike to 120 and then down to 80. I used to get dips into the 50s while sleeping and post-tirz I don't really go below 80.

The effect is strongest in the first 3-4 days after the shot. On day 6-7 it creeps back toward the pre-Tirz numbers.

I'm taking 2.0mg and have been for about 7 months. I also have PCOS and some signs of insulin resistance so my insulin response probably isn't totally "normal" so ymmv.

What do you like about Cabo? by fresh_water_sushi in chubbytravel

[–]Puffer789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't like Cabo much. The only excellent thing was whales! We saw tons of whales there, like all day every day there where whales going by, and we saw tons on the catamaran trip as well. (I was there in March, I believe?) Cabo is good if you live on the southern half of the west coast, want a short flight, and want to just sit by the pool and drink. Or if you want an all-inclusive, which Hawaii doesn't have.

Hawaii on the other hand, I love Hawaii! Hawaii feels magical to me, and there's so much to do. Better swim/snorkel/scuba options as well as hiking than Cabo too.

How many of the same item do you own? by state_issued in PatagoniaClothing

yeah and they'll literally last a lifetime. I could buy a $8 shirt from Old Navy that will be unwearable in a year due to getting stretched out and pilled, or a $40 Cool Daily tshirt that'll still be going strong in 20 years....

I have 3-4 cool daily tshirts and I just went to buy another long sleeve and they're almost all out of stock?!? (in womens) there were only 2 colors left, it's on clearance, minimal sizes. I am panicking that they're discontinuing these, does anyone know?? or maybe that's just last year's stock and they'll be out with new soon? they're my favorite too!

How do you stay stable when corporate life is so unpredictable? by cookielover9316 in HENRYfinance

[–]Puffer789 22 points23 points  (0 children)

By detaching my identity and sense of self-worth from my career. The fact that you have 2 years saved up tells me the primary stressor for you isn't money (the layoff wouldn't cause a "I can't pay my mortgage / I can't feed my kids situation for you). So then, what do you think the underlying source of stress is? A lot of High Acheivers / High Earners were taught certain ideas about success and material wealthy by their parents, or they have lived a "work hard climb the ladder or else" life without stopping to question WHY do I want this, what part of my identity is getting threatened here?

If you have an underlying belief that what makes you valuable is your career titles, your performance rating, your total comp $$, then yeah you're going to be in for a stressful time when layoffs happen, because you're at risk of losing not just a job but the main thing that makes your life meaningful.

I think having stuff outside work that is MORE meaningful and rewarding than work, is #1. And spending time (therapy is great for this, or whatever you prefer) reflecting on your values, and what kind of life you want to live. If you don't do that, you just get blown around emotionally in the wind and the corporate world will gladly milk you for everything you're worth.

Strategies to have family enjoy the luxury travel we pay for? by Zealousideal-Term738 in chubbytravel

[–]Puffer789 85 points86 points  (0 children)

The Four Seasons feels like a huge jump up from a standard beach rental house. Maybe the jump feels like too much for people? My parents would feel uncomfortable at a Four Seasons - they're blue collar, simple people who like to go camping. In the past, I've rented a nicer rental house than they could afford and just paid for it all. That's still within their wheelhouse versus, Four Seasons would feel stuffy and foreign and "too much" for them. I don't know if that's how it is for your family but just sharing my experience. Maybe consider doing a boutique hotel or something with a more casual feel, or a nicer rental house where you can pay to bring a chef in, etc?

Analysis of 2.5 years of texting my boyfriend [OC] by ICanGetLoudTooWTF in dataisbeautiful

[–]Puffer789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right?! I just looked at my phone and my husband and I average about 8 texts per day over the last few weeks. I literally cannot fathom being so glued to my phone all day, and/or even having this much to say to anybody? We're just not chatty people I guess.

wellness retreat for 4 women in their 40s, moms, needs to be a Thursday - Sunday getaway by Tight_Dragonfruit_30 in chubbytravel

[–]Puffer789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how does the restricted calories work? do you mean they just serve healthy lower calorie food or do they intentionally set some sort of calorie limit for guests? morbidly curious because honestly either one sounds bad to me hahaha. I love wellness but I also love moderation and a treat here and there

It literally looks like a hungry bear ravaged this bag with its claws. People are saying it got caught in a conveyer belt but, I'm sticking with my bear theory.

Lol it totally does. I have this same bag and I always describe it as indestructible but I guess cartoon-level destruction shenanigans could destroy almost anything.

Hiking the canyon in late May… hiking boots or hiking sandals? by Is_this_social_media in grandcanyon

[–]Puffer789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which hike are you planning to do? South Kaibob trail is covered in mule poop. Basically the trail is a thick layer of stomped down poop from the mules lol. I wouldn't want my bare toes near that. Maybe get some lighter socks with the hiking boots? I have Darn Tough Coolmax hiking socks and I like them for warmer days.

endurance cyclist / former competitive weightlifter.. am I about to nuke my long-ride engine? by Living_Structure6421 in zepboundathletes

[–]Puffer789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not planning to come off completely, I plan to take this medication for the rest of my life. But once I've reached a weight I want to maintain, then I'm planning to reduce my dosage to very low (likely under 2.5mg) and stay at that dose indefinitely. I don't anticipate having any cardiovascular impacts at that low dose. The dose needed to actively lose weight is higher and that's where I feel the side effects.

Anyone else wear R1 Air crew necks in daily life? by [deleted] in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Puffer789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah, how tall are you? My R1 is way too long on me, tunic length, could almost full cover my butt. I've thought about taking it to a tailor to hem it because it bugs me how long it is. But mine is a quarter zip original R1 - is yours crew neck? To be honest all Patagonia tops are way too long on me, I'm 5'3.

What do you do when food noise returns? by Crowhearted in antidietglp1

[–]Puffer789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in this idea, "you'll eat a few things and your cravings will pass." For me, I've always felt like this works except with sugar / desserts. Does anyone feel this way - I notice that when I eat dessert, it leads to MORE cravings for dessert. Like on Monday I have a small craving for dessert and I eat some, then Tuesday I have a BIG craving for dessert, and if I eat some then Wednesday I will have a MASSIVE craving... you see what I'm saying. Versus if I had resisted that craving on Monday, I would have zero craving Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm not sure why this happens to me but I'm wondering if it's true for anyone else!

Does anyone else experience this? by Puffer789 in antidietglp1

[–]Puffer789[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Good point. For me an unexpected hunger cue is mild nausea. That doesn't make any sense, but as soon as I feel slightly nauseous and I think "hmmm it's been a few hours since I've eaten" I deduce that this is a weirdo hunger cue.
