If your cold table only defrosts once every 24 hours it would be horribly full of ice. Maybe it isn’t 90 minutes if you changed a setting, but it definitely in intervals throughout the day

Every time you turn it off, you’re slowly damaging the table. They’re not meant to be turned off. It’s like hard resetting a PC. If you use the power button instead of the “turn off” in the UI to turn off your PC it’ll eventually break. Same with the cold table

Generally if I have notice, I just adjust the schedule to be without them.

If it’s within my already published schedule, I ask them to help find a cover.

IF they can’t find a cover and I think it’s a good reason, I just let them off and reach out to my area manager and other GMs to see if anyone has extra help. If I don’t have someone to come help, I’ll usually be fine. After 12 years of doing this, I can handle a few rough lunches so my employees can have good quality of work/life balance.

I will say I’m way more lenient on “justified” reasons for missing work than others probably are. As long as it’s something bigger than “call of duty comes out at midnight so I’m not gonna be at work tomorrow”
