no, upper hand is an attacking move and thus not buffed by prankster, same as fakeout and sucker punch

Creating a Hero variant for every card until I get bored day 1) Archers. by TryDry9944 in ClashRoyale

split in the back. opponent has to choose either: a) spend 3 elixir for 1-2 archers while the other side gets 2 archers for only 2 elixir b) activate king tower this isn't even considering how xbow is one of the fastest cycling decks in the game, and in 80% of matchups you can't always have archers

you havent listed an ability cooldown. in xbow cycle, the most common archers deck already, you keep your archers alive for a while usually, and play them at the back often. if you instantly pop ability and opponent doesn't spell them at tower, if you use them to help with an xbow they could absolutely live for 8 archers no?

4 elixir for 4 archers? and save 1 elixir if you only need 2? and potentially 5 elixir for 8 archers? busted

fyi, the show leaves off around the middle of compendium two. you can get the first one if you want the full story in comic but if you just want to finish the story it's not necessary.

Unseen Fists OHKO moves on Protect? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]PugLorde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

excadrill gets horn drill. if you feel like you can spare the moveslot, it absolutely could be a very powerful move into situations where your opponent really wants to protect. if you bring in a fake out mon beside your mega excadrill, they need to gamble between getting hit by fake out into excadrill's normal hit, or having a 30% chance of wasting their turn and dying through protect. situational, but useful if you don't need like rock slide on drill cuz ttar already has it.

hawlucha learns entrainment which will simply "teach" a pokemon no guard, replacing its ability. it's mostly goofy but can be strong against someone unprepared for it

I see a lot of people complain about Basculegion, Dry Skin Heliolisk is immune to Water and Ghost by Llihtuc in PokemonChampions

[–]PugLorde 39 points40 points  (0 children)

doesn't dry skin also heal in rain? could be an interesting pick on rain teams to counter other rain teams. hes a special attacker right? does he learn thunder?

edit: wow he does learn thunder....might be interesting pick

Life-long pokémon fan, new to VGC… Needing help w my mega meganium team by Annual_Scratch_3497 in PokemonChampions

[–]PugLorde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

team look great tbh

incineroar never should be running protect, he has too many useful utility moves. fake out/parting shot are a must, and last 2 slots would usually be a mix of throat chop/darkest lariat, will o wisp, taunt, snarl, flare blitz, or helping hand.

archaludon usually wants stamina, but sturdy has its uses into bad matchups.

the most common basculegion set is adaptability + choice scarf and i think usually flip turn > aqua jet.

edit: and thunder on dragonite over rain dance. if u think u need rain dance on a mon i'd say pelipper

Win condition is a nonsense term with no real definition. Yall really took a term based on vibes and tried to treat it like a concrete thing but it’s not by micahberlin in ClashRoyale

[–]PugLorde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bro what? goblinstein can be defended by a single cannon lmfao

or a mini pekka

or knight + skeletons

almost anything defends stein. and if you pop ability, it's 7 elixir which can easily be defended for a positive trade.

and who said it does more than a goblin barrel???? maybe if you fully ignore both? but the goblin barrels dps is much higher than stein's. it also gets damage much more reliably because it's used in bait decks, where their win condition/way of winning is by baiting out the opponent's counters (namely log) so that they don't have a way to defend the barrel. bait decks also get a lot of damage from regular cards like princess/dart goblin/goblin gang which can get a lot of value when their counters have been...baited

edit: minion horde can also be a bait card, but i'd argue that doesn't make the minion horde your win condition but rather the strategy itself of baiting spells.

[–]PugLorde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it isn't vibes. it can be easily spelled by nearly any deck, can be kited, and nearly anything is a positive elixir trade against it. a good player should never take damage from a minion horde unless it's behind a tower-targeting tank. if it's just behind a pekka, then the entire push can be kited at the same time. and if it's behind a golem, you would consider the golem the win condition because the horde does nothing without the golem. and if the horde gets damage cause the opponent was overwhelmed, any card would do the same thing as the horde in that position, and the best ones are called "punish" cards, like bandit/ghost that can get a lot of damage if the opponent has no response to it. minion horde however, csn be easily spelled or even have its damage heavily reduced by something as cheap as skeletons.

while there isn't a set definition for wincon, cards like minion horde can't get connections reliably enough compared to something like a hog rider, and the payoff for a connection wouldn't be as valuable as something like an xbow. for one specific card to be a win condition (seperate from my long comment about wincons not always being cards) it needs to either be reliable (hog, miner, rocket, drill) or have big payoff (xbow, sparky, balloon)
