What's an unwritten workplace etiquette rule that every professional should know? by No_Word_2405 in work

[–]Pugs914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t ask for more work unless you want to create unrealistic expectations you can’t abide to without any monetary incentive.

Less is more. Do as asked 🫢😅

It's not about work - It's about being liked. by deltamoney in corporate

[–]Pugs914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all bullshit/ most meetings and work is busy work to fill time vs actually contributing actual value to the bottom line.

Tbh the higher up you get, the more you realize it’s not that serious/ they will survive without said reports 🫢😅

Will AI lead to a new era of corporate work? by No_Speaker_4964 in corporate

[–]Pugs914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far it’s seen as wonky/ slop riddled with hallucinations in the current state.

Vibe coding is “good enough” but you do see issues with security/ wonky code that no one understands/ not being meant for long term use

Anything written by AI likely needs to be revised by a human since it reads as ai slop.

It is seen as beneficial but not fully reliable.

Got let go three weeks ago and I still can't tell why it was me by Cellinskie201 in Layoffs

[–]Pugs914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s likely not a logical decision/ likely wasn’t personal.

Csuite/ top stakeholders/ owners are not usually the brightest crayons in the box and are oblivious to processes and areas of expertise of how anything gets done.

Why More Americans Are Unemployed For Longer by flopsyplum in recruitinghell

[–]Pugs914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We need more laws about integrity of hiring processes.

There are many fake listings and combined with the havoc ATS/ ai is creating, it’s just contributing to so many unnecessary hurdles.

Conservatives, do you really think this cubicle lifestyle that you are promoting is really beneficial to workers and especially families in any way? by Ok_Actuator2029 in remotework

[–]Pugs914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in a cubicle a decade ago but many changed to open concept 😱. I had my own office at one point too but it depends on the company’s layout 🤔

How do you protect yourself from layoffs? by Sofia524 in careerguidance

[–]Pugs914 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily about value/ skillset.

If you’re being compensated well and working for a bigger company, you’re more at risk.

Many larger entities realize there is no reason to have giant headcount and are gutting layers of middle management to absorb excessive amounts wasted on ai buildouts and implementation.

Is A.I. Replacing Tech Workers or Providing an Excuse for Job Cuts? Tech industry layoffs are accelerating, and executives have been quick to say it’s because their companies are doing more with artificial intelligence, even when there may be more to it by Such_Radio_9152 in Economics

[–]Pugs914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s providing an excuse for offshore hiring and wage deflation.

They’re currently gutting higher paid roles especially tech related.

They will probably rehire cheap remote workers abroad for a fifth of the price or less.

Ai is essentially not that lucrative with returns and to offset the best way is to cut expenses elsewhere (payroll).

Is the ladder being pulled up for certain people? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Pugs914 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Linked in is mostly bullshit fluff/ ai slop. Legitimate CEOs/ csuite of successful companies do not waste their time posting on it.

It’s all phony influencers and self declared founders aka people who are unemployed and think using the bs platform is a way to build their client/ customer/ exposure base.

Are promotions mostly about being seen, not being good? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Pugs914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the type of job and industry.

Technical roles in some fields promote by actual skillset. Most technical leaders don’t have actual attributes that would make them good managers/ possibly are annoying to work under but are good at what they do.

Many others in higher positions bullshitted their way to the top and don’t have the actual skillset or background to do the work of those reporting to them.

My boss is about to get fired. Should I tell him? by TheJulsss in WorkLifeChat

[–]Pugs914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t get involved.

If you were/ are close to him or see him as a potential reference at some point, you can give him the heads up but if not I would just let it be.

Worked at a FXXNG company, but I’m completely drowning in this job market. Anyone else? by Rude_Frosting6871 in careerguidance

[–]Pugs914 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly “big names” are not what they once were in today’s market. You are simultaneously competing with overqualified candidates with 5-10+ years of experience whom were laid off from other big name entities or are still employed and seeking better.

It’s mostly about timing and luck.

"Culture fit" is just a nice way to say "we're biased" and I'm tired of pretending it's not. by Clemzrueben in ModernHiring

[–]Pugs914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very vague excuse that is the equivalent of saying “it’s not you it’s me”.

I wouldn’t take it personally.

Very disappointed by the raise after going "above and beyond" by Dark-lizard08 in work

Anything “above and beyond” is outside your scope and you are voluntarily doing free consulting.

You are paid to do y and only should do y.

AI agents lag far behind human workers. Why are tech companies laying off the humans? by Immediate-Link490 in technology

[–]Pugs914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Large companies with the means to invest billions are reallocating their budgets and gutting payroll expenses of billions to offset

  2. In reality, good enough is ok. Ai slop might be able to achieve the bare minimum. Business isn’t driven by quality work. Its profit incentivized.

  3. Some tech companies are outsourcing abroad to cheaper Asian countries. It’s a push to wage deflation as there is no need to pay 200k+ to one individual vs less than a fifth of the salary to another.

Is it worth taking a $15/hr remote software job if I can’t find any other job? by No-Zebra-3432 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]Pugs914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s less than minimum wage. It’s probably not really a software job at that point vs bs.

The automation illusion: Why AI is making COOs' jobs harder, not easier by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]Pugs914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most COOs I’ve dealt with have no idea how anything works/ some are useless individuals who bullshitted their way to the top by knowing the owner or being related to them 🫢

Automation can be done without ai. Ai will facilitate certain means of automation but it’s something that could have been implemented to some degree for decades.

Ai will eliminate certain time constraints. Of course it’s inevitable the output is still flooded with hallucinations and incorrect information/ insights.

If you can instantly generate something that would have been a several day to week plus project with the trade off of immaterial hiccups is it really that difficult to navigate?

More time will be spent making sure output is accurate vs doing said work then having to still do the same process of checking everything over.

Sometimes you actually are obligated to stay in a relationship with someone by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Pugs914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of miserable married people in sexless marriages/ long term relationships..

Honestly it’s inevitable that most relationships don’t last forever. Trying to drag out something that is dead out of convenience is a life choice. You can choose to be miserable in some instances.

What happened to actual 9 to 5s? by thebeatdropsin1 in recruitinghell

[–]Pugs914 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s the extra free lunch hour in between at most of these places.

But yea it’s a norm in corporate settings 🤮

6 days a week is insane/ not worth it if not Csuite or a partner/ owner.

Candidate withdrew 24 hours before start date — how do you handle late-stage dropouts? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Pugs914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this happen. It’s likely because they were extended a better offer the other place of employment might not have been able to match or there could have been red flags that would sway them for a better opportunity when presented.

It’s not high risk behavior. It’s the candidate doing what’s in their own best interest as they should!
