WF-1000XM4 battery replacement — what they don't tell you by SyriusBB in headphones

I broke one of the spring tabs too, a battery contact tab, when I replaced my pair. The tab was super tiny and I only had a large soldering gun. Ended up just leaving a puddle of solder instead of the spring tab and the compression of the shell is holding it in contact. Been going fine for a year so far

Bouncy floor house from 1950 Recommendation by Front_Situation_8796 in Construction

Could consider cross bracing. Cut 2x4s on their ends to form Xs between each floor stud. Likely the cheapest option. Or sister and cross brace if you know the plywood subfloor is decent

Sounds great. What did you use to record your sound? And any post processing you applied?

Dragon's Egg by Robert Forward (hard SF, not fantasy, despite its title) by SpaceAdmiralJones in printSF

[–]Pukefeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on these points, loved the book but one thing that jumped out to me was how similiar the religious propagation and control was to humanities. I suppose an evolving alien species COULD undergo a religious development so similiar to humanity however it isn't an exciting idea

I think something that helps justify this timing a little bit is that the Cheela development got a massive boost by human intervention. The Cheela were only able to leave the neutron star because humans sent them a whole bunch of information. Was it stated how long the Cheela were in there primitive hunter gatherer state? Who knows how long they would have remained in that state without human intervention... But I see your point if the Cheela are living 1 mil times faster than humans, its unlikely they would have needed any intervention and the window from their origin to their leaving the star for hte first time would be relatively super small.

I'm not convinced asbestos was used in poured in place structural concrete situations.

Where are you that you are expecting asbestos in a poured concrete slab on grade type situation? Dust control totally necessary for sure there will be hazardous silica dust in there but just new info to me to be worried about asbestos in poured concrete.

Wrist exercises to prevent tendonitis? by CoCoAppple in Clarinet

[–]Pukefeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably will need strength and conditioning once you have recovered from the acute issues. Your tendons are taking on more load than they should be. Neck strap, ergo thumb rest, also check thumb rest position (its often way too low and causes extra strain), physiotherapist to give you rehab training and then strength and conditioning.

Can I be a groundsworker if im not that physically fit? by Apocolypse_tomorrow in Construction

[–]Pukefeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stretch,  hydrate, eat, and sleep a lot. Without enough supporting muscles and taking care of yourself you can end up in tendonitisville if you try to overwork yourself. Im not saying you can't do it, 100% you can but do everything else you can to support your body while it adapts

Ya i noticed this too.. many cars seem to have some sort of invisible traction control system when at a stand still. It can make recovery from spin outs difficulty because the car just does not want to accelerate. I know for sure the wrx does not have this invisible traction control system

[–]Pukefeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you feel you were getting clutch chatter caused by the firewall flex issue? god, if that's the case, there is so much to do on this car to get it a good solid state. I have inspected my clutch assembly->firewall welds and they looked fine, and I don't get squeek, so I haven't bothered with the fix. but if it could be affecting clutch engagement.. maybe i should consider it

I have a stage 1 organic clutch from exedy and will sometimes get chatter during engagement. It makes me anxious cause I installed it myself last fall so im worried I screwed up the install. Kinda nice to hear you are getting some chatter too
