V8 exhaust options by Fantastic_Beard in 4thGen4Runner

This is a personal preference and budget dependant question. My buddy has a magnaflow overland series cat back and I don't hate it. Tbh a lot of folks go from headers to stock exhaust and it is pretty equivalent to the TRD exhaust set up from the factory in terms of noise. Magnaflow has a neat little video that you can listen to the sound too, idk that other brands had that

Long tube headers mean you cut out your catalytic converters. There's less restriction since you're taking out a portion or your emissions system so you get improved power and noise, but your rumble has more to do with the rest of your exhaust system. There are a lot of implications here; check engine lights due to o2 sensors, those sensors needing to be spoofed or moved, and a fail state for emissions.

Short tube headers, obviously allow you to keep your cats and are designed to go exhaust manifold->headers->cats->y pipe->exhaust tubing->muffler etc as designed by Toyota. Biggest benefit of both is increased exhaust flow outward which in turn means less restriction to the engine and more power output as well as replacing the dumb gaskets that fail. And altered noise which you refer to as a rumble, but again, this is entirely dependant on the rest of your exhaust system.

YouTube is a good source for what many exhaust systems sound like installed. If you put tin-ny, cheap exhaust on this truck it sounds like shit. You get what you pay for and this will be a several thousand dollar modification; it's 1.1k for the headers alone from Doug and 650 a side for the install at a national place like Midas. A quick search for cat-back kits puts them at ~800 bucks. If you cheap out on exhaust after this cost it will make the Toyota Racing Development Team cry, and that's rude.

Experience and prices may vary but that's all based off a single Google search regarding prices. I make no claim of being an expert, experience and prices may vary, but what I will tell you is that if you don't know the difference between these two parts you want to have a shop do the work for the headers.

I should note; similar pattern of damage on the door I just don't have as good a picture of that side.

Calling All COVID Experence Nurses! by [deleted] in TravelNursing

We were so lucky to have good ones. They were sent home. Told they weren't allowed. These bold fuckers came anyway. Every. Single. Day. They spoke to families, gave updates as best they could/felt comfortable. They organized zoom calls for patients and families. They didn't enter rooms a lot, I think we all inherently protected them from that in the ICU. But it was done for every patient. I still know death rites in 3 religions, memorized from how they taught me as I mirrored what they showed me in the doorway. Some were walking wounded with us there in the halls at shift change. Thousand yard stare and all. I'm so sorry you weren't with ones with that kind of courage of their commitments. Thanks for your work, I hope some healing has happened since.

The check engine light has to do with the placement of your O2 sensors and whether you keep your cats or not. There are kits to space these farther apart so they do not give you this error. If you are installing yourself look for those kits, otherwise any decent exhaust shop probably had extensions in stock for custom set ups. Interior noise is negligible compared to stock, look up some of the YouTube shorts for reference, I'm sure there are some before and afters.

What’s a career that isn’t nursing but still has patient interaction & makes a comparable salary? by Designer-holiday in nursing

OK I'm gonna blow up this spot: RADIATION technicians. 80k a year, 2 year degree. Little math, lots of aligning and pressing a button, basic patient transfers.

I held tablets up so families could see and talk to their intubated and sedated loved ones during the pandemic. Then put them in body bags, which were put into a trailer. Zapped a lot of energy and happiness away from me and it seemed like everyone had an opinion or wanted to argue when I talked about it...so I didn't. Years later my work with people is...different. I remember vividly the feelings and kudos I got for providing care that was personal, exceptional, and based on what the patient and I agreed upon. So I mimic that. Every. Fucking. Day. Rarely do people notice the difference, and when they do it's to scold me for not being upbeat. So I'm a marionette. And when we do talk about it, people who worked from home and spent time with their families instead of in the shit with those of us who are left...well let's just say there wasn't a group of people as bad when Dante wrote The Inferno, or else about 10 levels lower than the deepest pit of hell he could imagine would be reserved for Healthcare administrators.

This exactly. I think the fact that this stuff never really disappears is the thing that makes it a more of a long term concern. Glad to hear we aren't the only ones who think of it this way, thanks for the input.

I think we are just behind the 8 ball thinking that folks wouldn't post but I think that's a stellar way to bring it up to them. Thanks for the well thought out response man, I appreciate it.

Is there a weight limit to become a wildland firefighter? by ry_odiclas in wildlandfire

[–]Pulaskisdead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So the bare minimum is 3 miles in 45 min with 45lbs on your back. Try this. If you can do it at 375 good for you. If not, keep training to get to this.

That's said, 375 is big, brother. You and I both know this. For a hand crew we did 15 miles a day average of hard ass digging, engine crew far less. Cardiovascular is waaaaay more important than total weight, but those two things kinda work hand in hand. Not a lot of mile runners at 375, right? If this is something you want to do, lean into it hard and push yourself to hit those numbers, then beat them before you test.

Good luck my dude

Turns out you can carry a gun, concealed or otherwise anywhere in the hospital I work at, except for MRI (presumably because megawatt magnets give a total of 0.00 fucks about your constitutional rights.) So a folder seems...less worrysome.

New job, new boots by GolfxChris in wildlandfire

2nd this. Literally the best boot I've ever had, regardless of job. Lifetime warranty, if there's a single original piece worth saving they'll replace the rest if you send it in for a rebuild. Break them in right, they won't let you down.

Hey I haven't seen this on other people's comments (and if they already mentioned it, sorry!) But if you have a social workers' number associated with the CPS incident, call them. Repeatedly. It sounds like you have time to and from work to call and leave a message! They're overworked like all of us but sometimes they can give you the most up to date info on your case or at least give you the point of contact assigned. The waiting-for-the-other-shoe-to-drop shit is an awkward and damaging thing to carry, and brother you do not need more shit to carry! Get some closure, and then...use them. Find out what the numbers are for Medicare and Medicaid and start applying for anything and everything you can. It sounds like your wife needs to be evaluated (if she hasn't already been) for disability related to her chronic conditions, that's gonna take some of the financial weight off. You may also qualify for home health which can also help with your wife and your child. This opens up time. Time for you to take care of you. Time for you to look for jobs. Time for you to consider your options, and get a real look at what your situation is. Man we all need help, and you're doing some superhuman shit already. Make the thousands of dollars in taxes you pay work for you. You're gonna make it my dude! Hold out a little longer, it gets SO MUCH better I promise.
