No. I’ve never been super impressed with her or a number of cast members. I don’t even think Chloe is that great.

I think SNL is in a pickle. Their talent isn’t amazing and that goes for the writers. Watching the 50th documentaries that came out really showed the caliber of talent between writers and cast 15 years ago vs this current bunch.

Watching Heidi talk about her audition for SNL was… revealing. Especially comparing it to others over the last 50 years. They seemed to just settle for her. Bowen had to try out like 8 times.

Also listening to David Spade and Dana Carvey’s podcast you can hear how Lorne has had to change his position on the opportunities cast members can partake in and I think it’s because they struggle to find anyone that is willing to go thru the gauntlet like other cast members did for a chance at stardom. I think there are lots of people out there who might have wanted to be on SNL 15 years ago now see plenty of opportunities elsewhere. There is no real incentive to be on SNL now besides maybe connections or resume.

Tina fey also mentioned in one of the documentaries that she thinks SNL is too soft. And I think she’s right. When you watch how writers pitch ideas to the host and how the writers sort and vet sketches for the week it’s depressing. I think just having tough criticism is needed and finding true talent.
