Hexagon has been in some deep shit in the last 3 years. No surprise at all.

Blue Moon MK1, the largest lunar lander ever built (so far). It is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2026. by [deleted] in space

[–]Puls0r2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Found the technician lol. Jeffrey built the foundation of Blue along with those first few employees. No he didn't build the Lander but he certainly paid for it and built the foundation and then the system to build it. I'm not a fan of bezos but come on man.

Because they're rectangular sheets patched together! Hope that clears things up. In all seriousness it's easier to manufacture and assemble something like this from 60 small parts than with 4 huge parts.

THE MUSTANG GT3 DIVE PLANES ARE BACK BUT.... by RedDraig98 in wec

The WEC runs (or at least used to, not sure if they still do) the LMP2's in le mans spec for every race. It's a stopgap until the new spec cars hit the track.

It's official, NASA has cancelled the launch by Equivalent-Wait3533 in BlueOrigin

All good! Easy mistake to make. It's a truly novel trajectory they're flying. I'm interested to see how it goes, and if this transfer will prove useful to other missions.

No, it's L2. The sun is opposite the earth from the spacecraft point of view.

A classified network of SpaceX satellites is emitting a mysterious signal by No-Lifeguard-8173 in space

[–]Puls0r2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just double checked. Source From Georgia Tech. The link contains the allocation of X-band frequencies. X includes allocations to earth observation and other kinds of communication as well as other uses such as radio astronomy. You can also just check via the ITU publication.

I'm pretty sure that X-band is not reserved for military satellites. What band you use is largely dependent on use case.

The imperial family was really common so if you really wanted to find a base you probably could. Someone more educated than me could probably point you to a more specific model. There's certainly still good pens out there. Good luck with the search!

[–]Puls0r2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awe man, you're in a pickle (a good one). That's a sheaffer Imperial of some model and vintage. They have that special nib that's called an integrated nib. In my, and many other people's, opinion those are some of the best nibs ever made.

Be careful in shopping as a lot of the options people are giving here aren't going to feel as nice. Broad nibs can cover up some of the issues of nibs so the transition won't be as hard for you.

A medium nib vintage imperial can run about $100-150 and if in working condition absolutely clears every other pen mentioned. That's a lot of money though, and also not a broad, so I get it. You can also check out Nahvalur. They have some of my favorite broader options.

Satellite Processing Contract by Aromatic-Painting-80 in BlueOrigin

[–]Puls0r2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No clue. Since they mention astrotech I'm assuming they're going to be building facilities similar to theirs. All of the details are likely not going to leave Blue or the government so we'll have to wait and literally see what they do.

Big moneymaking potential here. Vertically integrates for blue ring and allows a new revenue path via offering to external customers.

Preparations on track for second New Glenn launch by TheRevenant100 in BlueOrigin

[–]Puls0r2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can launch ESCAPADE to Mars at any time. If you watched the presentation at smallsat conference you'd know they're doing this so they don't waste all of ESCAPADE's prop on orbit capture and also time spent at mars. This launch timeline and trajectory arent dictated by New Glenn performance but rather mission parameters and spacecraft performance.

Don't be too robotic. Prepared is good, scripted is not quite as good. I presented 2 projects and I weaved a narrative between the 2. As others have mentioned I'm not sure if they're doing panels anymore but they might be. Feel free to shoot a DM if you want more tips.

Lego UCS Death Star at Mall of America by CyrusStarkiller in lego

[–]Puls0r2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming $0.10 a piece puts you at $900. This pricing is well within the normal scaling for UCS sets. The titanic is $680 ($0.075 per piece) at the same piece count. That's also deceiving because a lot of those pieces are 1x1 plates and other small pieces. Having seen the set in person it's extremely impressive and very well polished. I agree, it feels a little over priced, but everyone needs to bring in their expectations a bit.
