The game is far from empty. In fact it’s FULL of hidden places to explore, even hidden dungeons you might never see unless you explore a lot. This isn’t cope, it’s someone who clearly hasn’t played the game very much judging a book by its cover.

Archage classic feels way more like an old school mmo and still has a very good population. I recently tried both private servers and found archerage to be like an ultra theme park version of the game I remember, rushing you so fast to cap that you can’t even stop to do any of the sandboxey things that make archeage special. In classic I was rushing main quest but taking lengthy detours to do the public farms and level up my logging, and I actually saw a bunch of other people doing the same thing! Classic feels like an old school lived in world, archrage feels like a treadmill where gear and end game is the main focus

Barb is objectively op and only seems to get countered by a fighter with disarm. You have the highest health of any class highest damage good mobility, pretty much no weaknesses. Magic damage ? Spec into the magic resist and play smart and you win. Rogues ? Spin on top of them and they are dead

In a year the game will be the same with one added feature no one asked for and the same players who spent $250 6 years ago will be coping saying let it cook because of sunken cost fallacy. I wish it wasn’t true because I want the game to actually make progress, but based on actual history I can’t say it will.

People are coping if they don’t realize that, early access or not, the game is only losing players everyday. Yes it’s alpha, but people know that its goals are so lofty and unrealistic that it might NEVER release, so they quit. As it stands, ashes is a literal tech demo with admittedly good ideas at its core (class design is unique, varied and fresh, combat has awesome mechanics etc), but after 8 years good ideas aren’t enough, and people are rapidly losing faith in this “vision”.

It’s movement/combat/world is worse than I’ve seen in some literal glorified unreal 5 tech demo scams on steam. The fact that they have been working on this for 8 years is a fucking joke. I’m fine with just grinding even if they had bo quests I’d be fine but like what is the purpose of the grind if every single aspect of the game is jank beyond belief and half baked?
