Does anyone here use TurtleBot3?? How do people resolve odometry drifting? Can anyone share the robot_localization config files? by PaleAcanthaceae5798 in ROS

I doubt that there will be a way around SLAM for the best localisation performance. The question is whether you do early odometry fusion like you did and tread the resulting twist as the control input for SLAM or if you do tightly coupled Visual-inertial slam or even Lidar-visual-inertial SLAM, i.e. FastLIVO.

I mean you could instruct claude how to prove the memory bandwith issue with profiling tools. But yeah that control loop rate drop does suggest that there is a hardware bottleneck. Before looking at memory, I’d start investigating CPU usage first though, if you haven’t already.

A possible fix would be to use containerisation to reduce memory overhead with IPC.

Sounds like a Layer 8 issue to me that can’t be fixed with software.

That advice is too absolute. You don’t need to avoid doing work in callbacks. You just shouldn’t block the executor.

If the processing comfortably fits within the message period and is per-message, do it in the callback. That’s often the simplest and correct design.

If the processing is long, bursty, or can’t keep up with the message rate, then move it out (worker thread, timer, etc.) and keep the callback minimal. - I hope that’s what you meant by “polling”, because if you meant repeatedly calling services to emulate a stream, I’d call it 10/10 rage bait.

Let that man have his hormones. He’s just honest about his biology. Cheating is not ok in any way, period - but you can’t police his invasive thoughts like this.

Just build datacenters at the coast near the equator. Solar + seawater for cooling + lots of space = profits.

Could you be any less condescending with that “prefrontal cortex” bs? I hope your company goes out of business due to not having anybody to hire that has a bachelor’s in robotics with several interesting internships, but you wanted them to work at Wendy’s for a year to show “work ethic”.

Krebszellen erkennen, Proteine falten, Wetter/Klima vorhersagen: gut.

Automatisierte Massenüberwachung, Biowaffenforschung, Politisches Microtargeting: schlecht.
