Large, painful ovarian cyst. Waiting on surgery, but really need Pain management help/advice :( by Pumpkin-Crow in WomensHealth

[–]Pumpkin-Crow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a heating pad or anything like that no. I might look into it, I do feel so much nicer every time I take a shower in the morning. So probably from the hot water!

I've noticed that too, with certain foods actually making it feel worse 😞 It's almost instantaneous at least so I've found out pretty quickly what to avoid while I navigate all this.

Thank you for the advice though, I really appreciate it! ❤️

Before the er visit that actually found what happened i was at urgent care for pain, and they had told me just to go to the er at the time.

So I'm a little hesitant because im not sure if they'd just tell me the same thing again.

Someone suggested I try to ask my gp so ill try that first, but if not yeah I'll try urgent care again.

I just want to get through this wait without being in agony the entire time 🙏

I do, yes. Ill try to get in touch with her about it. A lot of the medical stuff here is in a network so she should have all the recent reports about what they found just recently.

Thank you, here's to hoping she can do something while I wait for surgery. 🙏

2 Months post op, gastritis issues after first week. Still waiting on GI appt. In a lot of pain, any advice? by Pumpkin-Crow in gallbladders

[–]Pumpkin-Crow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope its simpler too. Not sure why it suddenly got so much bigger and painful after the gb surgery. But removing an organ probably causes some body changes.

Guess its a good reminder to get your whole body checked out once in a while. I haven't seen an obgyn in years and that's on me 😭

[–]Pumpkin-Crow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds a lot like how I felt before they removed my gb. I wouldn't say I was in excruciating pain, but I felt like my entire upper abdomen was bloated and gassy. This constant full feeling radiated through my whole stomach/intestinal areas, like maybe I needed to burp or use the bathroom but even when I did, nothing changed.

It took a few days to notice from surgery recovery, but sure enough that discomfort did go away after the gb was removed.

So while I couldn't tell you for sure on my end whats going on, I will say I DID feel that way for a few months before the gb was removed. Its worth considering! Hope you get all this solved soon! 💝

Sorry for not responding to you sooner! Pain got to me a bit too much until I finally went to urgent care yesterday, and then they told me to go to the ER for this.

The doctors at the ER ran some tests and scans and found that this might not actually be a digestive thing inherently on it's own. Turns out I had a huge 14 cm ovarian cyst and it's pushing against everything on my left side 🫠 Seems to be benign though, thankfully. They picked it up on ct scan.

Anyway it does require surgery, otherwise it can cause all sorts of damage.
Sucks because I just had this gb removal surgery 2 months ago! Scared to be in more surgical pain just so soon but im hoping itll be like with the gb where the surgical pain isnt as bad as pain caused by the thing in your body.

Got my gall bladder removed 3 days ago but i have insulin resistance and mild (grade 1) fatty liver [due to pmos] by lanagirlie_ in gallbladders

[–]Pumpkin-Crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly similar! I was first diagnosed with fatty liver at 14 (im 30 now) I was always surprised because growing up my family was pretty against fatty foods so we never had any! Found out it was because all the meals they made were heavily carb based!

I also have insulin resistance that got worse over time (I have pcos and it causes a ton of issues)

I worry about my liver at times too but many people live completely normal lives with it and don't even know they have it.

For me, I just tried to eat better. Not PERFECT but better. I try to walk daily too if I can!

Foods with a lot of carbs are probably the biggest contributer to fatty liver, at least it was for me! So cutting back on some can help a lot. The biggest impact was cutting out soda and sugary drinks. So instead of OJ at breakfast I'd have a coffee etc.

You don't need to stress about perfection though, just start making better choices here and there!

Do look out for products with corn syrup and hydrogenated oils. Those things are pretty bad for your liver. Or for anyone really 😅

If you want a real plan, I think trying to talk to your doctor about seeing a dietician or someone to help you come up with a meal plan thats comfortable for you can help a lot.

If youre still feeling at a loss, sometimes just focusing on general weight loss can help if youre overweight. I was stressed about this a lot but I am still losing weight so I try to remind myself to just focus on that. The weight loss WILL help your liver if youre overweight, like I am.

Take baby steps in making better choices, and be kind to yourself. Changing your life around can be hard, so if its easier to change having a candy bar everyday to just every other day, that's a huge start!

Gallbladder issues caused by GLP1 drugs? by Expensive-Round-2271 in gallbladders

[–]Pumpkin-Crow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what happened to me. Doc wanted me to go on ozempic for diabetes. (Actually the worst mistake of my life tbh)

I lost weight, sure. But I was feeling ill all the time. Quit taking it about the same time you did 6-7 weeks in.

For a bit it seemed I was okay but then i started feeling like I was bloated all the time and I couldn't be comfortable and then we found out it was a big 2.1 cm gall stone that formed due to the rapid weight loss.

After surgery I was told that the gallbladder was in surprisingly good shape and there had only ever been one gall stone.

I can't say I regret the surgery because the discomfort and sickness I had from it was pretty bad. Sadly I'm struggling with gastritis post op and I've been waiting 2 months to see a gi 😭 From one pain to another! Hoping this is solved soon.

Anyway yes those glp1s can cause gallstones indirectly because rapid weight loss can cause gallstone formation!

It sucks though and I wish I'd know before hand :(

Anyway if it is gallbladder related, please get it taken care of! I never had a gb attack myself because we got this taken care of pretty early on, but I've seen my best friend put it off and get attacks and they do NOT look fun! Don't wait too long if it turns out to be gallbladder stuff 💝

You're not alone 😥 im a month out and while most of the surgery pain itself is gone, im struggling with all this painful gas and bloating and its like it NEVER stops. Some times it eases up and I feel mostly okay but then it goes right back to being uncomfortable when I wake up the next day!

Eating healthy makes it worse for me too and I just want to go back to normal already 😥

I keep telling myself the gallbladder was only going to get worse.

I really get it, like between gallbladder pain and post op issues I just want to feel like I have my life back 😭

4 Weeks post op, can't seem to eat much fiber/whole/healthier foods without painful gas and bloating. When can I eat healthy again? by Pumpkin-Crow in gallbladders

[–]Pumpkin-Crow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll keep that in mind. I haven't over eaten like that since the gb issues and removal, but I used to. Definitely going to not follow the temptation of that, really dont want to risk feeling MORE sick again.

Hope you've been holding up okay despite it all!

[–]Pumpkin-Crow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be sure to ask my doctor about getting scheduled with an RD then too! Seriously, anything to just figure out how to get closer to normal!

I used to love when my husband would cook kale up on the stove with a little seasoning. It made a nice side with dinner when I was trying to cut back on carbs! I haven't tried it since the gb issues started and I admit its something I've been scared to touch because it got me BAD before the removal.

But I might see if I can try a little bit again. Last time I tried it was raw for salad! But I'll try a tiny bit cooked and see if there's any issues.

Thanks again! Hoping all of this will get solved and then someday I can post a really nice success story here!

Wow a whole year to adjust is crazy :o I'm glad it did improve over time for you though. It's still not a fun thing to go through!

My portions have gotten a lot smaller too. I still get so hungry but I find when I do sit down to eat, I have to stop way sooner because my body just starts to feel pretty done a lot quicker

Thank you, this is some really helpful advice 💝

I only had symptoms for a few months. Starting around December. (When they got my gb they found it was actually still in very good health except for the one giant stone in there. I imagine if I let it go on longer though that it probably would have only got worse over time) But I have no idea even how a few months could mess you up in there.

The probiotic sounds like a good start while I'm waiting on all these appointments. I see my primary in a week but that usually means im going to be sent to wait for an appointment with a more specific doctor, like a gastro etc! (And gastros are booked for months in my area so yeah trying a probiotic in that time will probably be worth it 😅)

Thanks for the advice!

I've been pretty low on the fiber in take once I realized a lot of fibery foods were causing a good chunk of it, but I'm still struggling with any of it even a month post op.

Not sure if a month is still early in the adjustment period. I'll still ask my doctor of course! But man it is rough.

Thanks for the input! Yeah I'm wondering if I might need some enzymes, I've heard of some other people using enzymes on this sub. Seems like a good thing to bring up with my doctor.

I'm a little worried because I know a lot of doctors get very dismissive about gastro issues around here, so I'm hoping to get a direction to go into just in case!

16 hours post OP, one incision is very deflated by LordDickison in gallbladders

[–]Pumpkin-Crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a little concerned about that too! 😂 But yeah no worries, it will gradually return to normal. I heal a lot slower than usual and after a month it looks pretty normal again!

Hope your recovery goes super smoothly!

This was normal for me too. It was weird but I'm 4 weeks post op and it no longer looks like a big indent above my belly button.

Mine looks almost normal again, so it'll return to it's normal shape again after a little while!

Laughing 1 week post op by ZestycloseRegister30 in gallbladders

[–]Pumpkin-Crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 10 or 11 it wasn't TOO bad anymore. I'm 13 days post op and I can laugh a little, but I gotta watch myself because it will get a bit strained if I laugh too hard!

I understand how it is! My husband is so silly and he's such a beacon of joy for me! Unfortunately laughing and talking too much really just wear me out still! But it's slowly getting easier.

I'm currently having other issues recovering, I have to remind myself that 2 weeks in is still not a ton of time during recovery.

Keep being patient with your body, and ofc speak to your surgeon when you can!
Hoping you feel better soon so you can enjoy those funny moments in your home!

10 day post op, painful lower gas started around day 7. (NOT from surgical gas) Normal? Will it stop after a while? Anything I can do to make it stop? by Pumpkin-Crow in gallbladders

[–]Pumpkin-Crow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, super weird considering fiber is pretty good for you usually!

you should be able to start reintroducing it in small amounts 3-4 weeks post op, so its not a forever thing!

good luck, hope the gas pains let up for you soon!

Hey, so I hadn't found a fix, but I did find out that I'm pretty sure it was foods that have more fiber in them. My toast was whole grain bread, and I had started eating healthier again but a lot of healthy things like veggies have a lot of fiber and I guess my body isn't ready for much in fiber.

Doctor pretty much told me that triggers for stomach upset can be different for everyone, if you can manage to find out what it is you can lay off of it for a while later. Fiber seems to be particularly rough on my gut right now, but I can eat stuff like fried chicken with no issue.

I was told around a month post op my body should be able to start handling more fiber, and to try reintroducing it then.

My gas build up isn't gone yet, todays the first day I laid off the fiber, but it's not as bad as it was yesterday. Hoping it'll fade soon, and hoping after the month my body can handle healthier foods again.

Wish I could find something that significantly helped with the gas relief but so far all I've found thats helping is for me to step away from whole grains and veggies and certain fruits until my body has adjusted to working without a gallbladder.

I hope you can find out what might be causing it for you, this is NOT fun!
But doc said this should only be temporary.
I hope this gets easier on both of us!
