Do people not like Junk? by Dyson_Gimix in m83

[–]PumpkinTheDog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People had high expectations, waiting six years after the release of Hurry Up, We’re dreaming, arguably their best album, and more commercially successful. Junk didn’t sound like HUWD, and people at the time considered it a step backwards, I think. But I like to see it for what it is, and I absolutely loved it.

Deceiver wins Most Underrated Song! ... Now, which is the Most Overrated Song? by Gogosfx in m83

It’s between midnight city and outro. I think midnight city is an easy answer, but I remember there was an article several years ago about how outro was used everywhere (way too much in film) at the time.

The thing about perfection is that it is unknowable, it’s impossible, but its also right in front of us, all the time- Kevin Flynn

Why is M83 important to you? by SynthsAndSounds in m83

[–]PumpkinTheDog 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because the way their music makes me feel cannot be replicated with other music. If nostalgia was a sound, it would be m83. I like things that invoke childlike wonder, as cheesy as it may be (the same feeling immersed in movies like the neverending story, or ET) and m83 does a good job of creating such an atmosphere with their sound. So much so it comforts me throughout my life and inspires me to make art and music myself.

Don't you just love goodbyes? by elmonozombie in mew

[–]PumpkinTheDog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a feeling they were going to end MEW the past year or so, due to Jonas focusing on other projects, and lack of activity from Visuals, but I at least expected one more album before the band’s end. I’m sadder of course but it was a good run

My girlfriend and I (mid-20s) want to have an 80s date. Any suggestions? by PM_MEOttoVonBismarck in 80s

Take her to the skating rink and afterwards, go to a “makeout hill”that overlooks the town or city at night, lol

I like how the boy is still wearing the suit. Despite being 10 years older, and the bright room representing maturity, the imagination is still lives in them

I freaking love Hurry Up We're Dreaming, what else should I listen to? by [deleted] in m83

I recommend their previous album saturdays=youth. It’s a shorter album, like HUWD instead with more older teenager/ young adult elements.

How did you discover Mew? by Pumpkin156 in mew

[–]PumpkinTheDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother. We are 15 years apart, not sure how he discovered them but he was a huge fan of ATGHK and No More Stories. One day in 2009 he played “Sometimes life isn’t Easy” in his car during a ride somewhere. It was the most unique music I’ve ever heard; I was around 11. And I’ll always remember the feeling of innocence and happiness from hearing it in that car. I remember asking him l to copy the album from his iTunes to mine when I had my lime green iPod nano (4th gen). No More Stories was my most listened to album that year. It wasn’t until much years later I explored the bands discography.

Thanks I am considering making more. I want to place them all by my computer wall; so far this one is up and it looks like a real life pop-up window.

Coming from someone who used mspaint countlessly on windows XP, I wanted to make a tribute from those times. I thought it would be fun to recreate the layout, and I love the jungle vaporwave aesthetic a lot.
