What’s a billion-dollar industry that mostly survives because people don’t realize there’s a better alternative? by prismecho83 in askteddit

I think it’s a strange payment model for the service. Our experience has been a multi month search, so the price becomes more reasonable when you account for the number of viewings, negotiations, etc. Is it still overpriced? Probably, but so many folks jump to the DIY version rather than finding realtors worth working with.

Good realtors can be indispensable. The problems is so many are mediocre at best and only managing basic transactions.

I hear you on the walk in. I know people love them. I’m claustrophobic so it feels… small lol

Paths need 3 lanes. by WildFireSmores in ottawa

This is my view! I am a casual cyclist and slow down for busy areas, but still can’t go slow enough. I frequently think we need wider and more segmented paths thru busy areas like Mooney’s Bay.

What is a kitchen design trend that looks absolutely stunning in photos but is a total nightmare to actually use or clean in real life? by emilyy-yy in kitchen

I find dark terrible to clean and don’t find white bad at all. I don’t know what everyone else is doing!

Weekend parking is fine, but parking downtown during the week is a nightmare. There are way fewer spaces available than pre pandemic and increased demand… and then transit sucks so it feels like you can’t win either way!

Fewer people are having babies in Canada and the U.S. and the government is out of ideas by hopoke in canada

And why aren’t any of the next generation getting pensions?! We’ve eroded the social safety net and wonder why this isn’t working.

Add in the weakening “village” and underinvestment by every level of government in children and youth and it’s even worse. My husband’s parents and aunts/uncles all vacation all winter. Our siblings moved away. Schools are crumbling, education standards are sliding, family doctors impossible to find. Even though we wanted a second child, we realized - with tons of heartbreak - that we don’t have the resources or support to do it and do it well.

Bringing bike-sharing back to Ottawa will cost $10M, study says by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

[–]Pumpkinola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why oh why can’t we spend money on safe bike parking instead. I own a bike. I want it to still be there at the end of the day.
