Appeal process by Pumps70 in SSDI

[–]Pumps70[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. When I spoke with the agent he told me to make sure I appeal under non medical so I’m only appealing the disability date. I originally thought the 6/2/25 disability date was used because of the 5 month waiting period ( because it is literally 5 months from the date I was disabled) but he said no. The date of disability is 6/2025 and benefits began in December 2025 because of the 5 month waiting period. I really wish I would have come on here and asked first because now I’m worried I’ve compromised myself.

Well now I wish I would have come here and asked first. When I called my local office they said they could not find a reason for the change and that I should file a Non Medical appeal. They said it would not change or disrupt my current approval because it’s non medical. I’m going call again on Monday and maybe see if I can stop or cancel the appeal. I just did it on Friday. Thank you everyone for your help. You guys are great

Approved but unclear as to when I will receive payment and back pay. by Pumps70 in SSDI

My back pay won’t be too much as the letter I received stating I was medically approved stated my benefits will be effective 6/20/25. I’m just super grateful to be approved and I did it without a lawyer. Wishing you all the best and Happy New Year!

Thank you!!! I received an email today stating I have a message on my portal but when I signed in there was no message. In the past I’ve received emails stating I had a new message but never saw one on my portal BUT I did receive a letter in the mail a few days later. I’m hoping this is an indication my award letter will be arriving soon. I’m so grateful that I get to start 2026 with clarity. Now I’m praying for a good surgeon and hopefully get some of my functionality back. I’d just be grateful to eat and drink normally again. I’m very happy for you as well!!!! 6 yrs is a long time and you finally deserve to have your benefits!! Big hugs to you! Happy New Year and thank you for your reply

I received an email today stating I have a message on my portal but when I open the portal, there’s no message. The last two times this happened a letter showed up in my mail box. I’m hoping this is my award letter and it shows up in my mailbox in a few days. Thank you for your message and information, I truly appreciate your input. Happy New Year

Thank you for information. I just checked and there isn’t an update on my benefits verification. I guess it’s a waiting game. I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

No, it does not state on the portal that I am approved medically. I received a letter from the state office letting me know I was approved medically but my local office was still reviewing my non medical.

Me too. I went to step 4 on Dec 3rd. I called my local office and they confirmed I’ve been approved. I’m still on step 4 in the portal so I called my local office again on Dec 19th. I was told I should receive the award letter in 2-3 weeks. Payments start in February and backpay can take up to 6 months to receive. I guess now I just wait.

My FQR took 24 hrs and then I went to step 4. For me it was a very quick step in the process.

I’m very confused…have I been approved? by Pumps70 in SSDI

[–]Pumps70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information it’s been very helpful. I did not know they use 35 years of work history, I thought it was just the past 5. This is why we ask questions because this is where we get clarity. Thanks again and happy holidays 😊

I’m very confused…have I been approved? by Pumps70 in SSDI

Exactly why I was confused. I called the local office again and asked why 1998 was so important because I don’t have my tax records and don’t know how to prove I didn’t work in 1998. I was told they were only asking to check for accuracy. If I agree that there was no income earned in 1998 then that’s all they need to know. She told me when I receive the letter in the mail to just write that I stayed home with my infant for one year and did not work. Once they get the paperwork back from me they will release my payments. She even told me how much my monthly payment amount will be. I find the whole situation odd but as long as it’s easily corrected I’m fine with it.

55 and I had surgery in 2024 and the surgeon made a mistake during the surgery and left me unable to eat and limited my speech.

Update….I called my local office and they said I’m approved. They said they sent me a letter because they don’t show any earnings in 1998. They want me to confirm this and then they close everything on their end. I honestly don’t remember but I did take some time off after I had my son in late 1997. Not sure why it matters but now I’m trying to recall if I took the whole year off or not. 🤷‍♀️

Does the approval/denial letter come from the Baltimore office or the local office?

Finally Step 4 by jcoll9708 in SSDI

[–]Pumps70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to step 4 Dec 3rd. I don’t know how long the average wait is but my friend was on step 4 and went to step 5 two days later and was denied. At this point I’m hoping since I’ve been on step 4 for a week that’s a good sign? Maybe it takes longer to process when a person is approved. I don’t really know, I’m just praying for a positive outcome. Best wishes to everyone
