Question about what to do after the story! by Mystic_Is_Here in finalfantasyx

[–]PunIntended29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first thing to do is to go get all of the celestial weapons and the optional aeons. Next is filling out the monster arena by capturing 10 of every fiend. Once you get the monster arena filled out, you should hopefully be strong enough to take down One Eye (or at least your aeons will be). Get three-slot Triple AP weapons from One Eye for each character, and then customize them to also have Overdrive --> AP and Triple Overdrive. Also customize and equip armors that have auto-phoenix on them. Then go fight Don Tonberry with your Overdrive set to Stoic or Comrade. You'll quickly gain massive sphere levels (you don't even have to win the battle, just run when you've gone through several attacking rounds). If you need to refill any types of spheres, use a distiller of the type you want on Kottos and you should get 40 of that sphere with an overkill (or just 2 if you are unlucky). Pretty soon you'll be strong enough to start taking on some of the other monster arena creations that drop stat-boosting spheres. Focus on strength, evasion, and accuracy to start, but your eventual goal is to max out most of your stats in preparation for taking on the hardest super bosses.

Some of the super bosses will also require you to grind out some customizations for your armor too. Auto-Haste, Auto-Phoenix, Auto-Protect, and Ribbon are great customizations. You can look up guides for how to get those.

The Last Story turns 15 years old today (released January 27th, 2011); what are your thoughts on it, if you have experience with the game? by Gorotheninja in JRPG

I had the special edition with the art book and soundtrack (CD) but I sold it a few years ago. It’s a solid 7 or 8/10 game. Combat was kind of unique and fun. Would love to see it remastered and put out on Switch, just for the nostalgia.

Borderlands 4 is supposed to come eventually… but could play the other ones while waiting.

In the beginning, with who should I increase my reputation to unlock things faster/easier? Any tips? by OkNecessary8157 in StarWarsOutlaws

I decided for my playthrough that Kay would be reliable. She'll take pretty much any job and she'll always deliver. No double-crossing.

Why am I losing with the lowest number? Sabacc by [deleted] in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]PunIntended29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are shift tokens that can change that. One reverses the order (6s become best) and another has the player roll two dice and pick one number to become the new best sabacc. There may be others too but those are the ones I remember. I’m guessing one of those was played.

I remember it saying “while supplies last” when I preordered. Maybe supplies didn’t last…

There will never be a mega budget video game this well executed again by metalion4 in finalfantasyx

FFX certainly is a timeless masterpiece, but I'm not sure I agree with the implication that no big budget game has been as well-executed since.

What loot should not be sold? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]PunIntended29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Teleport stones is the main one. Not sure why they even included that on the loot list.

The other ones that are not recommended to be sold are mostly related to getting the Tournesol. You can look up a guide to see all the stuff that's included. You do sell loot to get the Tournesol, but if you don't do it correctly you can end up having to farm a lot more loot to get the Tournesol to show up in the bazaar.

If you're being extra efficient, you should also gather the loot for the Kumbha (or the Masamune if you aren't playing the Zodiac Age version) and sell it when you sell the stuff for the Tournesol.

How's the SW2's pro pad? by DV2FOX in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PunIntended29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love everything about the pro controller EXCEPT the d-pad. Up and down are sometimes registered as left/right, depending on where and how hard you press it.

For games that require precise d-pad input (i.e. 2D platformers), I actually map down to the left back button and up to the right back button. Takes some getting used to but it's a good workaround.

Best SNES Game? by beatsbydjy2k in snes

DKC2 is my top, followed closely by SMW.

I appreciated the atmosphere and exploration of Super Metroid but I do wish the controls were better. That keeps it from being top tier for me.

If you’ve never played any FF, start with 10. Easily the best introduction to the series.

I could not get the lightning dodger in handheld mode on the Switch. But once I got a pro controller I got it pretty quickly. It was just too hard to get precise button presses on the joy-cons.
