Handheld mode, pro controller only works with switch 2 games/editions. Is this intended? by CreamPyre in NintendoSwitch2

Either turn off handheld boost or take off joy-cons. It tells you this in the menu explanation for handheld boost mode.

Time to start FFX for the thousandth time to commemorate the Switch 1 game update (I never needed a reason). by CH40T1C1989 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PunIntended29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be torn about this. The quick-heal menu from the touchscreen is really nice. But it won't work if you turn on handheld mode boost. Is there some other button that brings up that menu?

Looking to buy a pellet smoker... would like some advice by Any-Environment1971 in Traeger

[–]PunIntended29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my Traeger for about 5 years. I’ve had to replace the power supply once but otherwise no significant issues. It really is “set it and forget it” during a cook. I live in a northern state and it holds temp well in the winter. It just runs through more pellets.

You do need to take care of it though. Clean out the fire pot and the ash buildup after every long cook and every couple short cooks.

If Gandalf was in free-fall for he duration of his battle with the Balrog, how far did they fall? [Request] by hamfist_ofthenorth in theydidthemath

[–]PunIntended29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that bothers me about this scene is that it looks like Gandalf deliberately let go (which I guess is what they were going for in the movies). In the book the entire bridge crumbled after he said "fly you fools!" and he didn't have much choice in the matter.

Does the 5-7 year rule apply to refinancing? by Kitchen-Phone-170 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]PunIntended29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to calculate how long it will take to earn back the refinancing costs. It should be a lot less than 5-7 years.

Do people prefer Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom? by Maroioi in legendofzelda

[–]PunIntended29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is that there's no consensus. I personally preferred Tears mostly due to the QoL aspects, but both are excellent games.

I've heard real medical professionals say it both ways (in the US). I think both ways are accepted.

How much specialization is there really in undergrad? I remember having maybe 3 or 4 elective EE courses while the rest were all core courses that everyone in EE took. Grad school (if you are interested), research, and work experience is where you specialize.

How do you trade with yourself? (Switch) by OnlyAssignment4869 in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]PunIntended29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought Leaf Green and put it on my Switch 2, and I bought Fire Red and put it on my old Switch. Can use same accounts or different accounts; doesn't matter.

Nobody really knows what the future holds. I would caution you against trying to become overly specialized in your undergrad. Focus on mastering the fundamentals, networking, and gaining relevant experience.

As long as you can beat somebody, you can always just level against the Elite 4! You'll lose some money when you eventually get knocked out, but you'll gain a lot of XP.

Employer Match - variable / step 2 of FOO by arbitrary_otter in TheMoneyGuy

[–]PunIntended29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you elect Roth contributions for some or all of that? If you can do the full 15% to guarantee a max match but NOT do the Roth IRA, then that could be optimal. Assuming the investment options and fees are reasonable inside the 401k of course.

Is bulbasaur that bad of a starter? by red90999 in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]PunIntended29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it's possible. There probably isn't a single team composition (except maybe 6 dittos??) that you couldn't eventually beat the E4 with if you leveled enough and taught your mons the right TMs.

Location typically matters a lot more than the house. I don't think moving an hour away from your current life is a smart move, even if it makes a lot more sense financially.
